Ajax is just JavaScript and XML. Both of which were invented beforehand and free for anyone to use. So while MS might have come up with implementing current technologies in that way, they had no way to stop others from doing the same thing.
Mac does have SilverLight 2.0. Macs are already popular so porting SilverLight won't be a big problem but I suspect MS wants Linux to be as inconvenient as possible for users.
What MS does is allow people with no programming skills to write programs. That's not necessarily a good thing and that's a big reason there is so much insecure software for windows.
I asked Becker about Microsoftâ(TM)s plans to support Silverlight 3 on Linux clients. He said if and when that support happens, it will most likely come from Novell, which created the Silverlight port to Linux, known as Moonlight.
So no, it's not really multi-OS. Silverlight will never come to Linux. It will always be Moonlight which will always be behind Silverlight and will always run the risk of MS undermining it.
But on ubuntu I can uninstall all browsers. Why can't I have that freedom in Windows especially when it existed in previous versions? I can uninstall loads of important things from Windows and even break its functionality with certain things being removed. But I can't uninstall a browser I don't want.
Also do you honestly think consumers will have no browser? No OEM will sell a browserless computer and no they have more freedom to config their product as they want.
As for those buying retail...if you're building a pc or updating a comp and can't obtain a browser beforehand then go back to buying from Dell like the other children.
The only people upset are the MS fanboys and those without enough common sense to realise this has no negative effect on anyone. It gives everyone more freedom.
And yes by giving in MS is effectively admitting the EU is right so there is reason to persue and punish them for years of damage to competition.
Between being able to get browsers for free and ISPs including browsers with their setup disks, I'm not sure why anyone would have bought a browser. I know I certainly never had to
The Prince of Persia games haven't exactly been that great. They're just 3D games cashing in on an old popular game.
To call the likes of Super Mario Galaxy watered down in comparison to Prince of Persia would just be idiotic.
Sure a lot of 3rd party games are cheap rubbish but, that's what companies like Ubisoft specialise in, and shouldn't be used to gauge what fun can be had with the system.
There is no way I'm paying £900 for a 13 inch laptop. I'll likely get a Mac Book Pro in the near future and I'm ok with the larger ones being priced high but the 13 inch ones just don't feel priced right for what you're getting.
Yeah it works well if all you want to do in life is go to school. But you'll generally get found out when you come up against a real problem on the job.
Doing the minimum isn't enough in some fields either. Someone with a CS degree and clear evidence of a love for programming (ie contributing to projects, etc) will get much further than the guy who just did the minimum.
I guess that's fine if you career only involves being able to say "at least it ain't McDonalds".
There is a huge difference between actually learning and preparing children for tests. Getting kids to pass a test might make them look smart but they'll lack the necessary skills to be anything other than someone who can parrot information.
I'd a more accurate description is an implemenation of SMS texting online and for everyone to see.
That may have been 3 million in sales they wouldn't have had otherwise and setting up a twitter account is free so I don't see how it's a bad thing.

Flex/Flash and Java/Java FX are much more open. In fact, Java is open source now so it's much more open than Silver Light.
Doesn't really matter. Any thing on the internet should be platform neutral.

Most music is shallow, unimaginative shit aimed at the lowest common denominator. Is it any surprise people don't value it?

Did you forget that it's Windows only and there goes against everything the internet stands for. That's enough to dislike the software.
Silverlight is awful. I hope it dies a quick death soon.
Someone should have modded this funny by now.

And thus Microsoft proves it's point to the EU.
That OEMs will include a browser on their computers?
Most people buy pre-built computers. Do you honestly think OEMs won't include a browser?
As for you, well clearly you have internet access. Downloda a browser before installing Win 7.
Between being able to get browsers for free and ISPs including browsers with their setup disks, I'm not sure why anyone would have bought a browser. I know I certainly never had to
I'd almost be tempted to buy to support that move but I don't want to support MS and buy an OS I wouldn't use.

Google is doing something useful.
Where were these clowns when MS was taking a dump all over personal computing for their own gain?
