Q3 would have been the slowest quarter. Even if you want a iphone 4s you'd be dumb to buy it that close to the iphone 5 launch and lose the lower price. But despite the fact many people would have been waiting for iphone 5, Apple still managed to get within 1.8 million units of Samsung's best offering with old and less powerful technology. Samsung still needs to learn you can't mask a turd just because putting more memory in it.

Most retractions in the US or UK that I have seen are tiny. What annoys me more is websites that leave the inncorrect information and then put an update at the bottom. Yes it is out in the open and part of the article but given how people skim they probably won't see and will only see the lie / innaccuracy much higher up in the article.

Phones have always been more like VCRs than desktops and that means they are more closed and the thing is, in most cases, the hardware company owns the whole process so they're welcome to sell their package how they want. Windows on the other hand was one piece of an over all package sold by a company other than Microsoft so it's not right for them to dictate how that company can sell their product.

It's good that they don't because Active-X is a windows only technology and does no belong on the web.

  18. Re:How about other companies? on Windows Browser Ballot Glitch Cost Firefox 6-9 Million Downloads · · Score: 0

Apple has never had a desktop monopoly to use and crush competitors. It never forced OEMs to not install other browsers and you can remove safari from OSX and it's never been a problem to install another browser and it always acknowleges your browser choice.

Microsoft still don't always acknowledge your browser choice and it builds functionality that only works in IE so even if you use the browser ballot you still need to open the cancer known as IE to do some things.

Unfortunately it does feel like Windows for mobiles. Linux hits it big on a consumer computing device for once and it's been less than stellar.
