Who's going to push for freedom of speech if they cant legally AFFORD IT? Are people not able to get video games going to matter one bit to a government shooting people in the street?
The sanctions don't hurt oil or food corporations... They don't really hurt the Dictator... He just flies the luxury goods in bought at the airport on his way back from being scolded by the UN.
So the only industries that effectively get shut down are ones that NEED international audience and money to function.. Industries that work closely with programmers in OTHER COUNTRIES and start professional relationships and stuff..
Exactly the kind of people the Dictator is HAPPY to have cut off!
I thought the FBI already had geek chicks like Penelope Garcia working for them?
If the operator can't crack Facebook and code the SQL themselves on the fly then they really aren't useful. Most people are OK with that because while one person has lots of keys, they have seen it all and could really care less about you.
On the other hand, the FEDS really want to MINE the social data, and collect it and pay pseudo-political-religious-corporations to recommend laws. For comparison, demand ALL US MAIL is opened and scanned. That's essentially what they're asking for online. It's about collecting data to verify THEIR opinion not what the facts REALLY say..
If we're NEVER going to aim it at Russia what's the problem of they spy?
If the use was ONLY for the intended purpose, the Russian agents would happily fire the missles themselves... To defend the USA. Contrary to popular belief nobody wants the big dog off the chain in their neighborhood.
If any rogue state launches a missle that gets anywhere near Poland, they will have flown over Russia and China.. And they AIN'T gonna wait for a UN resolution before going after the rogue state.
These plans were laid by the last President that couldn't seem to back down.
"Abandon airstrip in Poland" euphemism for former SOVIET BASE bought and paid for by RUSSIA that the US wants to move missiles into. The whole thing is designed to kick the Russians when they're down... The USA didn't allow missiles in Cuba... Why would Russia be OK with this?
Then surround the house, and allow the person to turn themselves over in a CIVIL manner. That means they will probably call a LAWYER to check your warrant and such... Imagine that. They do this for PURE intimidation.
Everybody who's on SWAT should have their home (if they have kids) or their parents home "secured" before they can go on missions. Get to have everybody cuffed and hauled off to the station.
I always find it funny that a household dog "might" be trained to attack so they HAVE to shoot it (after knocking down the DOOR holding it inside). But when a K-9 dog attacks some kid in the park on its day off it was "accidentally responding to a training trigger"....
The government arrests the "Bernie Maddoff's" of the world.... I mean how non-libertarian is THAT? NOBODY should have to follow the law with libertarians' money!
BUT.... Apple has a policy that "real world" items should not be purchased off the App Store account. For instance Postcards on the Go isn't allowed to use your Apple ID for Mailed Postcards.
So which is Dropbox? It's a "real world" service that exists seperate from the iPhone app. if I have a problem with my SERVICE on another non-apple device, will APPLE refund my money? It is definately not "black and white" even by Apple's own rules.
It was mentioned befor Apple tried to buy Dropbox a year ago. Thankfully they didnt sell, or it would have been a Siri repeat where the non-apple services got cut.
It sounds like if you DON'T have Dropbox installed and invoke the API that you get directed to the Dropbox WEBSITE and not the App Store. Of course that's totally silly, but consistent with Apple's policy for Kindle. Facebook and Twitter do the same thing. If you use an app with integration and don't have their app on your phone, you go to the website login... But twitter and Facebook don't directly charge for service.
The simplest fix would be to have the API redirect to the App Store. Not as smooth, but would pass muster.
I still think this is an attempt to kick Dropbox out after them refusing to sell... That is serious trouble.
I understand the need for people to break the law by attempting the criminal act because you can't really arrest people for "hating" or "feeling suicidal" they have to break some laws.
On the other hand this is EXACTLY the premise of Person of Interest. Is the FBI only going after the Terror cases and not GETTING HELP for people pushed too far? Do we really have agents out there selling weapons to boost their street cred to some upset guy who takes it and kills 5 family members? When they could have got the guy some help to not commit ANY crime?
This becomes dangerously close to what the CIA used to play at sponsoring drug dealers and smugglers often against local PD. THEN it was to get inside rebels to fight Commies.
This is the problem with "Law Enforcement" and not "Officers of the Peace" in a nutshell.
No, most places REQUIRE commercial electrical installs to use conduit of metal or PVC for all electrical work. You might have to put proper boxes at the ends, but not a terrible thing. You run it just like PVC drain tubing.
Plenum rated cable is specifically rated to run in "airspace" either INSIDE air return ducts or above drop ceilings. You're trying NOT to do that here.
Imagine the devastation if the towers had fell over instead if collapsed. It would have wiped out dozens of blocks of the city. Yes the building had a "flaw" as a "stick and tension" structure nobody really planned for an aircraft, with a full fuel load, to be flown full speed....and incinerate 3 full floors of concrete out of the middle. An accident might swipe the building, but no sane pilot would have not found some way to drop speed, fuel or even ditch before threatening that many people.
Those buildings that 40,000+ people on a DAILY basis. That only 3,000 died (including those ON the planes) is a magnificent display of how our building codes and engineers built a safe building under conditions it was never designed for.
Hulu was the STUDIOS bargaining for better terms with networks and Cable. Hulu has done its job and now that they have all got better deals, they might as well let Comcast kill it off.
Useful sales tax spending isn't linear by income. Everybody pays the same sales tax on Cable, telephone, etc. if you make $1 million then those expenses aren't 50x more than the average guy. Not to mention payroll taxes that are flat like social security (7% from employee and employer uo to $110k) or Medicare 2% of income... There is about 20% of taxes taken from your pay outside "income tax" just for getting paid.
Realize that the very rich people live off capital gains and interest income... None of THOSE taxes are taken out before the puny little 15% capital gains. They don't SPEND anywhere near the proportion of there income on personal effects that a regular person has to.
I know states will get you on something large like an automobile because you have to get a title, BUT you also DIDN'T owe sales tax in the state you purchased the car, (but that state forces the dealer to collect on all sales) so they often credit the paid tax and you pay the difference so it's not double dipping.
Smaller merchandise falls under personal property because you paid the legal tax at point of purchase and own the product.
I never understand why they don't go after credit card companies and other electronic funds places. Your Credit/Debit card company already has to comply with local state rules anyway (as a business presence) and have your legal postal address. That industry takes an even BIGGER profit from all the people avoiding tax online. They would only have to comply with one address per customer... And adding fees is certainly something they are good at.
The biggest problem with the sales tax rules is that EVERY BUSINESS could have to support EVERY SALES TAX in the country. That is hundreds of separate amounts based on residence alone and more based on "type of merchandise"... Not to mention they would have to be LICENSED to collect that tax... I don't think even the tax collectors thought through the deluge of paperwork from all the Internet businesses in 49 other states they would have to process.
Alternately, we could have the Post Office collect the sales tax... They need something to do!
The real issues is that after 4-5 runs they've got you. They've paid lots of money and visited your house... Dropped off toys for the kiddies...
So when they "accidentally" slip a knife or handgun in the bag what can you do little froggy? The pot is boiling and if you try to stop them you're going to prison... So now they hot you and you just push the bag along because you don't really want to know now
All those apply for REGULAR PEOPLE (ie small businesses) right now. Courts happily buy into these cases all the time.
Corporate licensing is like complaining you have "too many" cars to keep valid insurance and tags on... That's just another piece of "complex paperwork" too. Wonder what the Police opinion on that is?
Well, any machine at retail will. Retail is just to slim margins for the extra cost.
Graphics CAN'T be removed because they are built into the CPU-chipset combo... And nobody else is licensed to make chipsets. Intel is forcing OEMS to go back to "external" chips on the PCI-E bus... Which is 100% more circuitry and super complex firmware to get back to what you got from Nvidia. That adds $100-$200 to the wholesale.
Things like MacBook Air are forced to choose battery/size or performance... Which is why Apple stuck with C2D for so long as it was the last CPU intel allowed third party chipsets with.
What sucks most is that these NEW computers are stuck with OBSOLETE graphics out of the box... Note how Apple's Mountain Lion has to drop all the old Intel Integrated because it just can't perform to iPhone or iPad standards anymore... Ouch!
This is why CS people AREN'T QUALIFIED to be IT people!
Consider it the difference between an architect and a contractor. One does complex work, but the other is responsible to get your house built on time and budget. Sure contractors don't need a degree, but even small IT departments are easily million dollar plus now... Definately worth having a person with a degree.
What kind of money are typical CS workers directly responsible for???
I'd argue that plenty of people are buying NEW apps for iPads (that didnt exist three years ago) at a record setting pace. The king of the hill is Citrix and they already have a client out for iPad... That means any native apps you need are already covered. For a standard "sales monkey" business traveler, iPad is nearly enough. iPad even supports remote wiping when paired to a windows exchange.
Microsoft should have moved their core apps to pure managed.Net years ago. Then Windows RT would have been their big shift.. Just like Apple Switched all it's apps to Intel in just 18 months. Really, a new OS is. The BEST time to rip that backward compatability patch right off..Net/Silverlight was the vehicle to do that with... It's easy to add that to existing PCs but start with a clean slate. They could even have the apps run on XBox 360 and for sure the NEXT "Xbox".
Just like Windows 7, people are waiting around to see what Microsoft will do. they are just handing the plate to Apple and google if this is the case.
The judge compared this more to giving somebody the key to your house. If I give you the key to my house, and find out you were taking pictures of yourself in my underwear and posting them all over the police are not going to charge you with B&E or Home invasion... Because you didn't ILLEGALLY break in... You had a key. You don't get to RETROACTIVELY call B&E when they left a mess on your kitchen or something that upsets you later.
In the same way, taking a car that you were allowed to drive is still stealing the car, but it's not carjacking or B&E because they GAVE you the key. It's still breaking "A" law, but it's your word against theirs for your "level of access" to the car... You didn't "rob" them of the car... Robbery is very specific.
The judge is also pointing out that authorized people borrow computers from coworkers and share passwords with other authorized people all the time... The law has to be applied uniformly, fairly, and predictably... Not IGNORED until the boss finds something else you did wrong.
This sounds like crazy stupid luck there were not piles of bodies. Fortunately, it was lunchtime on a work day/ long weekend so most people were not at home. Had this happened 12 hous earlier it would probably have a high casualty count with everybody in bed.

This is post-cold war posturing... Needs to stop.
We need a middle defense base in Poland why?
If any rogue state launches a missle that gets anywhere near Poland, they will have flown over Russia and China.. And they AIN'T gonna wait for a UN resolution before going after the rogue state.
The only country this threatens is Russia.

But that's MILITARY hardware... So technically, it's not terrorism.
At least that's what they told us when all the "smart bombs" blew up "next" to houses and stuff in the Gulf Wars.....
