    NRA seems to want to sell more guns by scaring us into thinking we need them. Hollywood is whining about running out of ideas when there are 900 scripted TV shows. So many new tv shows are reboots of previous. Both need to get real and fill societies needs in proportion. Now about the new-age Giligans Island!

    One main use of preservatives is to destroy or resist-proliferation of bacteria, of course, good and bad. But when we eat this food-substitute, guess what actually breaks down and processes the food ?? Bacteria!! ( ok... ok.. Acid helps too! ) So.. How does our Gut Flora like being treated with Junk FOod that doesn't ever need to be refrigerated!??!?! Here is a challenge... identify why Peanut butter doesn't need refrigeration, and another: can we treat our food with good/benevolant/nutritious bacteria that would keep our food protected from Bad Guys (tm) ? (( While on topic, is it good to eat anerobic bacteria strains, and why is it good to eat yoghurt? ))

    Why create a programmatic friendly response? Why be precise? Just say. Wrong!! Denied. Try Again. Perhaps the server that is refusing should also notify a user if the account is matched, but the password is wrong.. One on the first fail. And one on the tenth, on the fiftieth, etc... Time for us all to create an authentication scheme that is Vendor independent. Its Time.

    Ok. so .... how about all the OTHER wall warts that are in ...like... everything we buy!!! Some devices run on 5V, some at 9V, some at 12V.. 8 different current ratings. How about we setup a smart controller in the Wallwart that the power needed and delivers that ? 5VdC, 9VAC etc... We have the tech. JWPower (tm).

    How many people have a cardboard box of perfectly good Wall Warts that are for unknown devices? We need to start mandating power sources that are common format. These things should be standardized - like what happened with 95% of Cell phones and the Micro USB. That became a pseudo standard for many devices that are still usable! The countless devices have particular Voltage and Current and connector specs and so on.. Standarizing Wall warts goes against business practice, but would clearly put us (humans) on a better path. We dont have to save the earth, we just have to keep it inhabitable!

    THough my cell phone might not be mining cryptocurrency, Am sure is it CONSTANTLY reporting what I am doing to whoever will pay for it. Is there a way to run something like iptraf to monitor where my cell phone is giving away my info? Would like to own my Cell phone and cut out the bastards ensuring my privacy is cashed in for their benefit? The end users need to unite. Like in the Matrix: " Unite Coppertops!"

    Ok.. the food doesn't help, but, Modern business logic is centered around maximizing benefit and minimizing expense. This ends up soaking up workers' life by pushing salaried workers like dogs and getting excited when fewer people do more work ad nauseum. Reality is that the logic does not scale... so that more work is provided but at slipping quality. Has anyone ever felt that they could do a 50% better job, given 10% more time? Mind you efficiency is never spoken, but it is how one survives. who would have more fun (as in going out and doing things) if we didn't get burned out at work so often?

    Just change for changes sake is just plain ignorant. If there is something better... describe desired objectives, define how we meet them, how we will pay for it, and what benefit it will have to all. And then it makes sense. Same thing for healthcare. The compulsion to repeal something ... just because, ... is just shallow and pedantic (thanks Peter Griffin ) or at least mean spirited. Maybe Mr Pai can tell us how its going to benefit you and I. The people he serves. Should we start a new tradition of thought and discussion preceding action?

    In commercial circles, the Commited Information Rate (CIR) is (or was) used to specify a transfer rate that the customer could always get. Its commited and not over subscribed. The model with Cable modems (and I guess FIOS etc) is not as easy to assure. Bandwidth is shared and .,. and the aggregate is what the ISP can, well, provide! So .. the CIR promise doesn't work when the service is overcommitted. But.. on super bowl day, will everyone be able to at a few Ultra high Def streams at the same time- or other hot news day for that matter. We all (ISP and users alike) need a new term that includes an expectation for minimal transfer rate, as well as a Peak Burst rate when its available. How about we call it CIR of 10 Mbps and a burst to 100 Mbps? Would that be acceptible to cable/Fios and end users?

    Oh.. Wait.. IBM is not really an American company, opportunistically? Anyhoo.... Capitalism will produce things when it makes more money. Communism can set focus on something (like ... making socks) and take an early ( if myopic ) stab at it. How would we gage useful manifestation of AI.. .at its first implementation, or one that makes more money? Military robots? autonomous drones? Factory work robots?

    So now.. all this tech is shipped to Korea and China as a "better idea" and now our kids have no jobs to move into that arena.. .so alot of the interest goes away, aside from the high level Geekz. Could we design and build a flat screen today? Not sold on all angles of globalized work force. When we lose the ability to produce things, do we risk losing our sovereignty?

    Not at 90% off at closing sale. It was sad, but I dropped a C note on stuff that I hope will keep my fingers dirty. Agreed though on the Amazon killing the Brick/Mortar... I paid for 7400 LED in Amber at 2AM last night and its here by 8 PM. Hey.. USPS even does delivery on Sunday? I see USPS as the smart guys here. THey are working with AMazon to keep them selves in the new supply chain.

  25. First - Cost of education.. every kid who sought to get an education is digging out from under mountains of debt. Second - Savings are not important when you are fascinated (and expect to be part of ) a post apocalyptic dystopia. Hollywood has been putting out movies that make the future predictably awful. How about we make saving and planning and being prepared both possible and desirable?
