  1. re: HP Photosmart 8450 on Fall 2005 Photo Printer Buyers Guide · · Score: 1
I'm not sure exactly why this is classed as a printer of 2005 (it was released in 2004), see here for a good review on it.

In fact, it looks like HP has already discontinued that model:

The Finnish commercial channels also have a special signaling marking start and end of commercial breaks, but there isn't any mention of which part ends/starts. Perhaps that sort of generic break markers could be used also there...

Detecting your phone is nice thing indeed, but I find it even better that some phones allow you to set different ringtones for various caller groups. Still, I am not very fond of the idea of ordering some mangled pop song as a ringtone (especially without any preview)...

Non-sense. Even as alma mater of mr. Torvalds was once called Imperial Alexander University in Finland there is nothing royal in today's University of Helsinki or Republic of Finland...

  5. Re:What about Teletext? on Ten Technologies That Refuse to Die · · Score: 1
The article was clearly of US origin as it mentioned pagers as a living technology (as elsewhere pagers are historic relics), which also explains that teletext was not mentioned as it has not been introduced that side of the pond (actually I'm not even sure teletext has been popular outside Europe).

But I agree that teletext is still viable source of information, despite the crude display.

For Helsinki region, it obviosly worth to mention to the cable alternatives from HTV:
    • Welho 2M (2 Mbps/200kbps) 69
    • Welho 512 (512 kbps/200kbps?) 49
    • Welho Pro (shared 10Mbps?/??kbps) 46.25 (limited availability)
    • Welho mini (100kbps) 29
All the above are the monthly fees in euros, I think the normal fee for signup is 30 euros, although there is often various special offers diminishing that down into 0 euros..
  7. Re:Animated films won't ever get Best Picture on Oscar Nominations (LotR, Spirited Away, and more) · · Score: 1
Somebody explain this: If Y Tu Mama Tambien was one of the best movies of the year and earned a Best Original Screenplay nomination, why isn't it a Best Foreign Language Film candidate? Isn't Mexico its country of origin? Instead we get a movie I've never heard of.
At least IMDb lists that film's country of origin as USA/Mexico.

And I wouldn't call all the foreign film nominees unknown: Mies vailla menneisyyttä (The Man Without a Past) has already won several awards, including the Grand Prize of The Jury at Cannes Film Festival.
