The war on drugs makes a lot of money for a lot people on both sides of the law.
This is the reason those in power on both sides want it to continue ad infinitum, not unlike the war on terror. It's up to us who have a valuable little to gain to fight against the incumbents who have a _lot_ to lose, and so will fight nail and tooth.

The censorship is especially ridiculous when the first section of the article discusses the history of the choice of cover art, the concerns the band members had with the image (and indeed the lyrics themselves), and what they claim is the true meaning of the lyrics "Time is the virgin killer".
The cause of Alzheimers is not understood very well at all. There are however many factors which appear to make one more likely to develop the disease. Being infected with the herpes virus that causes cold sores is one of these.
If you get cold sores, your risk of developing Alzheimers is not that much increased, and anyway, there's not much you can do about it.
If you don't get cold sores, of course don't go out of your way to catch them. However, I'd say the cold sores themselves are much more of a worry/hassle than an increased risk of Alzheimers.
Seriously, that line of reasoning will kill braincells of rational people trying to follow it. It's the same thing as saying that because the current global ecosystem is unable to sustain the current population of white rhinos, what we should do is "humanely" drop their population to 10% of today's so that they can each have plenty of resources. That is rather different. White rhinos are not using their environment unsustainably, but humans clearly are. I'm sure if rhinos could burn fuel to make their lives more pleasant in the short term they would, but they don't seem to have cottoned on to that one yet.
