Don't you think it's a little silly for a file manager to manage the desktop icons, background, and whatever else? That's what drag and drop and GNOME Control Center are for. Some people might not want the overhead of Nautilus on their GNOME desktop.
This kind of silliness dates from KDE 1.x, and was long ago thrown away by the KDE camp themselves. I guess this kind of silliness will be thrown away in GNOME 3.0 since they will be aiming low for GNOME 2.0.
Hi, Konqueror has truly become a first-class browser. It is simply amazing, and IMHO the best web browser available for Linux. However I have not tried Nautilus because GNOME is too hard to install on Debian Slink.
How does Nautilus compare to Konqueror?
How can I tell if I compiled my Qt with exceptions? Is there a command I can run on the lib to find out. It would be too good to be true to get even faster performance.
Good to know the Linux community defends its own and doesn't worship the GNU so blindly. Anyway, it's good to see this nice diplomatic response for Stallman, it does seem to clear the air.
They shouldn't respond to such highly publicised attacks by a highly public figure? Why exactly should they sit down and take that kind of shit? I don't get it. Our stand for freedom includes the right to free speech and that includes the right to defend against baseless attacks.
That being said, I'm glad you acknowledge the licensing wars are over. Thanks.
I guess this is why Wichert did not give KDE a ringing endorsement and did not say KDE would be included in Debian. Sigh. When will the foolishness ever end?
Don't underestimate us the users.

Now GNOME code can be copied to KDE!

Not only does the community gain, but KDE gains too. I hope this removes Miguel's objection to KDE using GNOME code. This will be very interesting indeed as now KDE is free to copy GNOME code verbatim. They may not really want to do that though, seeing how KDE uses clean C++ while GNOME uses C.
On another note, I wonder what it means for Red Hat's C++ toolkit, GTK++, etc. They may gain from copying Qt code too.

Good attitude, Commander. Troll Tech should be praised and thanked for bending backwards and forwards for the community like this. We really do not need your snide remarks here.
Will GPL'ed Qt improve KDE acceptance by the community? I certainly hope so. I've always been a KDE fan and user regardless. Now I hope that KDE can compete with GNOME on purely technical grounds and not depend on who can shout louder in the PR wars.
What the fuck are you talking about? Everything he says seems right. Where is the rant about GNOME? Mozilla != GNOME. And he's right, the Mozilla project is a complete failure. Ask JWZ.
Bud Tribble, on the other hand, doesn't even know if Gnumeric supports Bonobo. What bullshit. He's a pointy-haired if you ask me.
This is a wonderful piece of work. It integrates with GNOME, KDE, IRIX, CDE and who knows what else. I hope KDE continues this trend and integrates with all the above environments. Just think, if KDE could integrate with GNOME like that... it would kill many objections.
Qt Designer is a truly wonderful application for a wonderful library. It's even GPL although there's no reason for the GNOMEs to port this too since it's already integrated with GNOME, they may want to make it generate GTK C code as an option.

Check it out here: http://primates.ximian.com/~miguel/gnome-2.0/delay s.html
It seems that GNOME 2.0 will aim low because of this. What a pity.
So tell us why you haven't done anything about Sun's alleged lies about OpenOffice being declared the GNOME Office suite?

Does anyone realize that this babe INCLUDES KOffice?! What are you waiting for!
I don't want to recompile Qt just to compare sizes. That's a ridiculous way! I get my Qt precompiled!
Solaris only supports GNOME now. Didn't you hear the GNOME Foundation? PS Troll -1

Fuck, GTK+ looks like shit, give it up. You think adding a couple of icons and wacky themes can fix that? No, sorry. Try again.

You call a response with detailed facts instead of vapor FUD squirming?
The above post is one of the most informative ones I've seen!
There's no GPL code copyright FSF in KDE. So what right does he have to forgive?
