Then, how, exactly, does your joke that isn't referring to communism, suffice to serve as a response to irrational fear of pinko commies?
1) Joke fail 2) On-topic fail
I still don't get your joke; but if your joke was to make you look funny by equating socialization to pinko communism (an irrationally feared political construct), then I guess I'm laughing.
there are predictions... and then there is the actual count. If they don't have a way they trust for counting and storing the ballots... well... the winners are those that count the votes.
A good working voting system wouldn't have this kind of issue to even talk about.
I don't understand whats wrong with *knowing* that there might be a riot at the game and then making the personal choice whether to go or not.
We make choices like this all the time... the foods we choose... the media we feed ourselves and progeny. etc etc etc. Hell, watching Bill O'Reilly comes with the risk of learning (through example) to be hateful and indignant, if not outright intolerant. Do we need a blimp to keep him safe? No. It's your choice to interact or not. Same w/ the stadium in the case of the 'riots' previously mentioned...
Now as for the shootings and bombings... I'm still waiting for that to be worth my worry.
I think you've got your terms mixed up. When you understand the difference between socialism and communism, you can make more effective arguments. But since you can't at present, you've made a very poor and basically wrong example.
meanwhile, the 2,039 cheeseburgers they sold during the show will probably lead to more loss of life...
haha. Fear for terrorists just feeds the fire (aka 'terrorized'), and statistically I'm a bit more worried about day to day life killing me than a terrorist. Hell, we're not done worrying about pinko commies! They're gonna eat our babies!
I agree with what you're saying here, but this is likely a product of the way our current world works, where privatization is necessary for capitalism.
Science, afaik, has no interest in exclusivity -- but what you're seeing is a product of necessity within the framework of existence that we are in.
Don't worry, though. The world is already too small for hoarding and privatization. Blood will continue to spill for resources until we decide to die and stop making babies, or restructure our approach to life in a way that does not place others in a situation to struggle (and subsequently fight for life). In time, community and open source will largely be the prevailing theme in life.
You are wrong. Anyone can practice science --- follow the scientific method and you are a scientist.... The problem is whether you've established a history of valid application of that method and if your demonstrates that integrity upon review for publication.
The ivory towers you pretend to exist are only a figment of your imagination and/or ignorance.
I actually must agree.. 8.04 ran my R40 laptop like it was fresh and fun.... 9.04 (i think its.04) freshly installed makes it feel about 30% as fast as it was before I did the install.... uggghh...
We're not talking about TF2 at all, and if you're talking about L4D you must be speaking from your own limited experience.
The game has massive issues in the multiplayer department even to date, let alone in the past when it was much worse. The servers dump like crazy, or just freeze up on mapchange --- the last 2 campaigns were not even made available for VS mode until about a month ago. And the lobby system being a complete discombopulation of garbage that will often not even let new joiners in ---- not because of some network flaw, but simply because its buggy.
If you don't know about the bugs in L4D and how bad they were up until about a month ago, you simply have very little experience to speak from --- or maybe your'e talking about console. Put it this way, my clan has had chronic issues getting a regular public server to last a whole campaign. Competitive matches? Forget it. The game will dump at least once mid-match.
it is a great and fun game, no doubt. But I am sick of being treated like a beta tester by nearly every US game developer out there. BF2 was the same way -- great game, but full of bugs and problems that took years to patch and even now many still exist!
Just because you don't know something, doesn't make it fail/false. You should use google and see the thousands of other people out there that would prove you wrong.
VS mode only involved the first 2 campaigns up until about a month ago... Not being able to use half of the game content in the best part of the game definitely renders those maps unusable.
Furthermore, the level of bugs on release, and up until about March, was completely ridiculous...not to mention the horrible and buggy lobby/server system that the game forces you to use.
Don't worry, this is Valve, it will be delayed until 2012.
No.. it will release on time, it will simply be buggy and problematic for the first year.
L4D was hardly usable for quite some time and is STILL buggy to this day, but obviously they don't care.. they got the $$$.
Nowadays, if you buy a game in its first year of release, you're paying to beta/bug test it. From what I've seen, only a few game companies (namely japanese ones) have the gumption to release a truly viable product.
Advertising is already blended inside 'news content', which the Supreme Court ruled to actually simply be 'entertainment' -- when they ruled that it was completely legal for Fox News to misrepresent the seriousness of Monsanto's Posilac milk-production enhancement drug in the 80s.
Financial interests w/ Fox led to Fox's own reporters being silenced and forced to lie about the product --- this was ultimately backed by the Supreme Court because the news is simply entertainment and does not need to actually hold truth.
What most people are too egotistical and wrongly self-proud to realize is that nearly all of those people (even if they were you or me) can be corrupted to release that information. It is only a matter of someone wanting the information and the time it takes to exploit the fools we've assumed trust with.

Oh noeess!! There's a terrorist in the stadium!!
meanwhile, the 2,039 cheeseburgers they sold during the show will probably lead to more loss of life...

Considering the fact that we've had so many problems with stadium slaughterings and bombings.
oh wait... i ate too much scramby eggs w/ sarcasm on the side.
Lol @ excessive response to lesser problems.

links?
I disagree. IP is pretty much all the US has to offer right now.
Oh, and bombs/war.

I think you're wrong. Ubuntu FTMFW. Everyone else is just trying to look cool...

Look it up...
... when your Democracy has no physical accountability.

It is only a matter of someone wanting the information and the time it takes to exploit the fools we've assumed trust with.
And of 390,000 people, at least 389,500 of them can be corrupted to release information.
I think you must have missed this awesome product called UBUNTU.
It seems that he was arrested for being a smart ass. Not that it is a good reason to be arrested, but still an important distinction.
I agree. I read the full bit and it is safe to say that common courtesy and simple conversation could have easily avoided the situation.
