Rolex, Omega, Nikon and others have all stopped selling parts to third parties. Auto makers have tried it in the past and are trying it again. Granted, most of the supply of parts for these is a manufacturer only item but with electronic components it really should be up to the owner of the device to have it repaired. Obviously Apple wants to protect it's markets and this should be considered as predatory practice but as long as consumers are willing to fork out big $$$ for this stuff and put up with it, consumer rights be dammed.
If you don't like these kinds of practices let Apple know or don't buy their shit it's as simple as that.

Let's also implement massive drag nets that also destroy the sea bed, coral and any other habitable environment for fish nurseries and you'll have massive extinction areas which are already forming. This is exactly the big problem. We have too many people for the resources available. That means one of these possibilities must happen soon:
1) We start getting serious about population control. You don't need 20 kids anymore to insure your retirement. 2) We have another world war and wipe out a chunk of who's already here. Unfortunately that'll probably be a nuclear war and the rest of us will be gone as well. 3) We all start starving, in that case I suggest eating the Kardashians and any other reality TV shows first. This includes Oprah who's especially fat. 4) I believe we'll run out of fresh water before we get to famine, buy water futures now. 5) We colonize Mars but that'll take a huge investment or we offer "steerage" class fares on Virgin Galactic. 6) We implement "Logan's Run" and everybody who's 30 or older gets zapped at festival.
No authority, no resources to do something about it. It's just another "Hey look! we're doing something" office to soak up tax dollars. The feds are excellent about creating departments and positions that don't do anything.
Let's make a trade. We'll agree that Cisco is a money grubbing enterprise that doesn't have a soul and is a sellout in exchange for not having that )(!@)#! Shen Yun crap every year.
