    I've only seen the gun factories in Pakistan documented on television, and those people work in fortified houses.

    Yes, it is unlikely anyone would be making an AK47 in a tent, it would be too easy for their guns or equipment to get stolen.

    Also, while they might not have any "formal" machining training, they have the equivalent on-the-job training.

    Another problem with the Silmarillion and even the Hobbit, is that they parallel a number of events in the Lord of the Rings, so a person that has seen the Lord of the Rings films will feel that they've seen this film before.

    Android already runs on Intel, but it would take some work to make the UI work properly for the desktop.

    However, at this point Google is more interested in making Chrome OS the desktop OS.

    It is essential to science that experimental results are public and repeatable. What you are talking about doesn't fit into those categories. Perhaps you could call it knowledge, but it isn't knowledge in the ordinary sense.

    If I had a dream where I met Satan and he told me his favorite shampoo, you could call that knowledge, but it isn't knowledge in the scientific sense, or even common sense.

    The experiments indicating the existence of the Higgs Boson at now at 5 sigma, which validates the "pretty much" qualification for particle physics.

    The existence of God fits into a entirely different ontological category. There are no experiments you can perform to confirm or invalidate the existence of God.

    Launch speed is still slow, but there is now Intel support for the emulator so it runs faster. Also released today is rev. 2 of the "Intel Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager" which may include some performance enhancements.

    If you read the nytimes article you see that the genetic evidence appears to confirm the linguistic work done by Joseph Greenberg in 1987. So that is probably what the grandparent is thinking of as the "old news". However, the theories of Joseph Greenberg aren't widely accepted.

    From the article it sounds like it. I find it hard to believe that Hawking wrote the line "soon to be supercharged with Intel’s MIC technology" they have him quoted as saying. Sounds like a PR flack programmed his speak-and-spell.
