I still buy new CD's, even just released ones, but (un?)fortunatly, the number of good cd's coming out per year can be counted with my fingers these days....
Must be all them pirates their fault!
I gave up on FM radio a long time ago due to the high quantity of crap on there that gets played due to payola.
They can pry my MP3 player from my cold dead hands
I love streaming radio, in fact, the only radio i still listen to is last.fm and i'm actually a paying customer (European here), there is a huge market out there for streaming radio, the reason why i use last.fm is twofold: it plays the music genre's i like and i can listen to my radiostation for any internet connection that's fast enough, and i absolutely love it!
If however, if the costs of using last.fm rise due to these arses, i might stop using a paid for service and go back to carrying a hard drive filled with ripped cd's, that'll probably be net positive for Warner...
Incidently, i wonder if any of my favourite bands are actually signed up with them or not...
I've worked for 9 years in a support role for mac & windows, HFS+ and HFS aren't all that stable, however, recovery tended to be abit eaiser with HFS(+) compared to NTFS.
I'm not going to claim however that HFS was solely to blame, it's always possible that corruption occurred due the ocasional kernel panic on OSX, or bombs in the old days or applications doing something wonky, but it happened, and more often then the (more numerous) windows installations.
In the end though, it doesn't really matter, in most circumstances the corruption wasn't fatal and we had good backups, and there is no such thing as a perfect computer
In what way are they "very likely" on windows? Seriously, i dispise the POS just as much as the next linux user, but in all the years of (proffesional) use i've never experienced data corruption at all that wasn't related to hw failure, i've actually seen HFS+/OSX screw up more often then NTFS/Windows.
What is it with all these internet filtering attempts all over the globe? There's the classic one, China, there is a project in Belgium (and it's actually in use, the purpose is to stop pedophiles, but ironically, the only site on the list so far was a site that outed pedophiles, it's blocked because it violated those 'people's' rights, but only on DNS level (*)), the Dutch also have a similar approach, and Australia wants to follow suit.
The good thing here in Belgium is that a judge has to order the site blocking, not some bureaucratic office, so there is a recourse through law to defend your site against it, if you must, but still, such attempts are futile, technology will work around them.
That's the beauty of languages, some words have multiple meanings, "appréhender" can indeed also mean to catch someone, the verb 'attraper' would be a better suited verb i think, and is more used in dialogue then 'appréhender' in that context, at least in this part of the world
The average (l)user thinks a hard drive is a magical device that'll never fail, they also assume they'll never delete the file by accident or that the software might corrupt it.
Usually though, they'll learn once they loose an important document, the real idiots however, never learn & blame the computers/tech guy for failing to recover what was lost
1) Always keep backups of important documents on multiple media
2) Always make sure you have means to access & use those documents on a secondary system, this could be a second computer, or the same machine booted from another medium, such a CD or USB
3) Learn how to use recovery tools, you might like bartPE or a linux live CD
"AKA, Pour apprendre ce qui piratent les filmes et musiques par internet..."
Translated this gives us "AKA, to learn those that pirate movies & music on the internet...", i don't think you're using the right verb there mate, maybe you meant 'arreter'? That means stop for you non french speaking people;)
The original point was that the Dogdude claimed it was easier to install XP on current hardware then it was to install a current version on current hardware, the need to slipstream drivers into an XP cd proved that claim incorrect.
Making the claim that installing a 10 year old version of linux on current hardware is hard, while factually correct, is a straw man argument in this context, because there is no reason or advantage to do that.
I've always held the opinion that religion is a result of evolution, religious groups with the same beliefs tend to do their best to oppress smaller groups & groups with other beliefs, individuals will even kill themselves for those religions if they think that it'll further their 'god's cause'.
Well, if that were to be true, it'd be quite ironic that the very reason why creationists oppose the acceptance of evolution would be evolution itself.
Name me one reason why you would install a 10 year version of linux on new hardware. Just one.
I can't think of any situation where you'd need to do this, the more efficient way would be to install the newer base system & install the older parts you 'miss' for some reason or the other, be it with software packages, source code or other means.
Another means to achieve this would be to install a base system with virtualisation & toss the ancient system on that.
The truth of the matter is, with linux, you have multiple ways to achieve this, even if your ancient linux version is completely unsupported on the hardware you use, and you won't be dependant on the manufacturer to support your ancient OS for eternity (incidently, the virtualisation approuch would also allow you to still use ancient versions of windows, but it won't magicly support new hardware)

Someone please introduce these guys to crunk for some really shitty noise (i refuse to call it music), hell, let them experience the high quality sounds of this: The Greatest band in the world, Brokencyde!
I would, it seems :(

Fair enough, i don't live in France, it's funny how different a language can be used across different places :)

That still isn't correct, that would turn his sentence into "AKA, to understand those that pirate movies & music on the internet" :)
30 should be "never trust computers", any OS can fail; any application can fail; any hardware can fail.
Data corruption isn't reserved to windows, i've seem OSX eat it's fs too, hell, i've even witnessed data corruption on linux & big iron

The site is just a tool, like all tools it can be used & abused. I use FB, but i'm very selective to what i put on there

And don't forget about Robannukah!
Why should anyone care? It's not like windows is the only 'game' in town, there are alternatives if you don't like it.
I don't see the link with TFS & politics.
I love that song!
I'm not offended by G&R or Queen, i actually like both bands, but yea, they're not metal. Not in a long shot.
