Considering that it is the IT dept that sets the policies and managed the network they can do what they want. At the IT dept. I work for we have all of our machines running dual NIC’s with one on a separate subnet from the rest of the infrastructure. We have that subnet set as a DMZ so we have full access. No firewall, filtering, or monitoring. As the tech support for the whole company if they don’t like it we can slow down our support and lower our quality of service. For now management doesn’t bother us because we are very good at what we do.
I for one hope that windows 8 takes awhile to get releases.around 2015 would make me happy. I mostly skipped Vista for my personal use because of the early issues, but as a tier 2-3 IS Technician for the duration of Vista I experienced enough of it. I final bought a new laptop in July (came with vista of course and has been upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate) and I used vista until I got my 7 ultimate. vista finally matured with SP2 in to descent OS and was replaced in less than a year. I love My Windows 7 it has been super stable and fast. I was happy to make the switch form XP on all on my Machines. after investing all of this money if Windows 8 comes out in less than 5 years I wont upgrade. I want to be able to get some life out of my OS. I drive my cars till they reach 175,000 miles before I trade them in (about 7 Years) and With 8 computer in my house upgrading all of their OS's is Costly.
Sure would FREE Netbook running the chrome OS. if it was 3g capable it would be even better. partner with AT&T or Verizon and get them to subsidize the hardware, and the the customer pays $35.00 a month for an unlimited data plan. I would do that and ditch my current phone.
Team viewer is a powerful remote access tool that is free for personal use. I use it to manage all of the machines on my home network. it has 256 bit encryption and uses a one time use access key of a permanent password. it is very secure and allows full control of the remote machine. You can even switch places so they can view your screen.
I just had a windows Seven Launch Party (I signed up so I could get the free copy of Ultimate) now it is time for the Ubuntu Party. I love Ubuntu but need to run windows as my host OS for work reasons. Dual booting takes to long to switch back and forth so i use Virtual Box. and Run Ubuntu as a VM. I am stoked.
HE has yet to do anything but spend me out of a job. he is the worst president ever and he got the peace prize. i am ashamed to be an american with him as president.
I real look forward to seeing how the develop the story line and characters, but it does seam like a stargate version of Voyager. I am wanting the rest of Defying Gravity to Air soon, I think it is the best new original show on any of the big 4 broadcast networks,(FOX CBS ABC NBC)
ok let me start with the physics of startrek warp drive. (you can warp through things, when in warp you are out of normal space time. DUH so a Run about would pass through the borg cube. jeeze read a book.
they couldn't nuke the ori ships like that due to shields. as for reconfiguring a ship in space of that size with only 6 people ya right ok if you say so. the point of the storyline was to develop the characters specifically Daniel and Vala. you just don't get it go Back to your Dungeons And Dragons
I have a Acer 6930 Running win 7 I visualize xp osx and ubuntu and have run 98 as a vm on it as well, with a core 2 duo and 4GB ddr2 It is plenty fast. as a side note I just upgraded to Win 7 from Vista and am using 12% less memory. the 6930 has a proprietary replicator port for docking. I dock mine to a 20 inch monitor and 2 external 500 Gb drives. and a usb Blueray burner. It also has a 16Inch screen and full keyboard fro working on the go. the only down side is that the batery only last 3 hours and the thing weighs 8+ pounds. but the new timeline series has great battery life and almost all the same features.
this is not too fare for a wifi conection what you needis 2 dd-wrt capable routers i recomend buffalo routers and 2 15 Dbi grid antenna's(kinda look like a parabolic dish) here is how you set it up you set up the first router and the friends house and aim it at your dads house then set up the other router as a wireless bridge ( it will receive the wifi signal from the other router and turn it into a wired connection. I worm for a Wireless ISP in Illinois i have setup 6 setups like this at distances of up to half a mile it works quite well but does have an additional latencies of about 6 ms
