It's not just businesses that standardize on IE. I have a friend who works for the government and he focuses on IE as well. He does look at everything in firefox and NS7 but the first priority is making the site work IE 6.0 anything else that it works in is just a bonus.
Man I for one really hope that this new rendition of the series lives up to everyone's expectations. The original radio series was so wonderful I still listen to it a couple times a year. Hopefully I'll have two different versions to rotate between in the future.
a la the school that wanted to reduce P2P bandwidth -- they made a P2P filesharing app that only talked to other machines on the school network
been there. done that. Ok so it wasn't the school that did it and they offically do not approve it's usage of course but I had a group of friends that went ahead and did just that created a gnutella clone that worked only in the schools class B IP range and it works beautifully. It's now in the hands of new maintainers and 4th generation.
Bandwidth usage is better (although last time I heard the connection was at nearly 100% usage for most of the waking hours) and best of all people don't have to go out to the internet to download their favorite Pr0n^N^N^N^N educational information:-)
Here at my school we only have a 3 T-1 connection to the internet for about 3000 users, and since we're in the middle of no where, they are pegged almost 24/7 since we have nothing better to do. So to help this problem a group of friends and I got together and hacked together a Gnutella clone that only works in our class B that we call Stotella
has anyone else done anything like this?
I got word first hand from a friend who worked on this project that the X-43 got deployed from the B-52 safely but when the rocket ignited a piece of the X-43 tore off causing the whole thing to go into cart wheels. It's really too bad the program will likely now get killed since it would really be cool to fly from say London to Tokyo at Mach 10.
What difference does it really make if OSX/GNU-Linux is Unix(r) or *inx? As long as it's stable and runs Setiathome at a command prompt isn't that all that really matters?:-)
I can't believe that it took until day 3 to get Will Wright on the list.... He changed the way most of us played games when we first played Sim City (Still one of my favorite games of all time) and with the huge popularity of "The Sim's" today I'd be hard pressed to not have him one of the first people honored.
He's a Mac Guy he won't know any better:-)
No Seriously show him the cost differences and the performance/$ spent and you'll likely have him convinced quite quickly.
FYI Netscape has been doing that for (at least) the last 5-6 versions.... thats why the first thing I do is delete the bookmarks and replace them with my own... well that and I REALLY like the del key:-)
This really doesn't surprise me in the least I mean HP even refuses to support a "mainstream" OS like Winblows 2K. Ok thats a lie they support it IF you pay exrta money just to get the 2000 drivers... WTF??
If streaming is bad now what happens when the RIAA figures out how to charge us for it will it all of a sudden no longer be illegal despite the fact that the artists will still see little to no money for their hard work?
What's next? Is the MPAA going to decide that I can't have a group of friends over to watch a movie without paying them a royality per viewer? How about the RIAA deciding that I can't play my CD's in my Pioneer CD player and instead I have to buy a new RIAA "approved" CD player at an inflated cost.
We all need to contact our members of Congress and get the DMCA revoked because it stomps all over our rights to fair use.
I say avoid Corel "Linux" like the plague... I did 2 separate installs of it, on two totally different setups and when we found that Corel had none of the functionality that we expected we attempted to remove it only to find that it corrupted the partition table on both computers causing a complete loss of data on each....
oops maybe I should have rtfa my bad sorry
