The problem with comments is that they don't compile. The language does not complain if a comment is horribly wrong or horribly out of date. That is the problem of comments. Code folding is another problem. If you feel compelled to hide your own code, there is something horribly wrong with your coding style. And if you feel compelled to hide somebody else's code, it's broken. Fix it.
In fact, it is in my bathroom for half a year now, and I never had any problems. Off course, you have to empty it onto the external compost heap once in a while.
Not likely. The voyagers have used the position of the planets (a bit like a slingshot, using those planet's gravity), which were extraordinarily good at the time of launch. It will take a few centuries or millennia before we hit such a good position again. Space travel is not a question of hitting the gas pedal as hard as possible.
Until you pass either one of the zillion cameras that have been put up in the last decade. Then the connection is easily made by scanning the license plate. Furthermore, you assume corporate well-behaviour. Are you an economist?
My most negative definition of art is "something that has no other purpose than to be looked at". So according to that definition it indeed might be art.
Please do. Western people use their own manure to pollute the seas and then spend money on chemicals to give the soil what the manure should have given it. If you use a compost toilet, you save the environment in a lot of ways and also a lot of money (like the money spent on sewage treatment). There's a nice book about it. You can download it for free at http://humanurehandbook.com/ (link on the left of the page).
The Gyrobee (http://taggart.glg.msu.edu/gyro/gbplans.htm) was open source long before the term became known in combination with other things than software. They are at least 10 years too late for the first open source aircraft.
There are different levels of the word "public". You can look through my windows and see the interior. So that view is "public". Any burglar who wants to break in would have to come to my house and look inside to see if there is anything of value. If the same view is visible on Google Streetview, it is by far more public. Burglars can monitor thousands of addresses from their own home, without being seen themselves. This is why harvesting public data can be enormously evil.
The ability to pay anonymously is getting less and less by day. In Europe, it is not yet that bad that you are seen as a terrorist if you pay cash, but there are far too many places where you have to pay, but real money is not accepted. So you may think people are stupid if they pay with a credit card, but often there isn't even a choice.
Probably. This is just an example of capitalism run amok. First they announce that you will have to have UEFI for new PCs with Windows "for security reasons". Then they offer a possibility to run Windows without it. Clearly, the only security M$ is interested in is the security of their wallet.
Bullshit. There is no time for research for each thing you buy in a shop. You would starve doing that research. I think people at least should have the right to know what they are eating. And not in covered terms. So no "vegetable oil". Does it contain soy or not? (Soy allergy is one of the most widespread ones). And yes, I demand to know if my world is put to danger for my food. Each few months you read (even on slashdot) discoveries in the field of genetics that are so basic that no one can seriously believe that genetic engineering is understood and perfectly safe. It may be safe in a tightly sealed laboratory, but it definitely isn't in the open field.
Denial is the first symptom. Trust me, I know too many people who suffered from it. One of them was a sysadmin who was proud that his pills made him stay awake for 24 ours so he could work that long. It took 3 months before he collapsed. He was in such a bad condition afterwards that I wonder if he ever could have a job again.
Alas it does not matter if you believe in burnout. Burnout believes in you.
The situation that the genes are GPL'ed is also a bad thing: the entire DNA should be public as a "derived work", so any insurance company can screw the child.
Well, it may be a bit like the Netherlands. The Netherlands (for more than a decade) had no patent laws and did just fine. In fact, this was the time when companies like Philips and Unilever were started. Alas, international pressure bullied the laws back in. So yes, I expect it to flourish, but not for very long.
Don't forget that the installation of a single application could ruin the key. So we are probably searching for a computer that will NOT be regularly updated. I remember that ATMs run Windows. So I expect the target to be some "embedded" device. OR a device in a company where every update is tested for two years before it is allowed be proven ancient.
Am I really the only one who sees this as a totally absurd number for any company? This should even be a big number for an entire country when it includes all the patents since they were introduced centuries ago.
Too many apps
Maybe there's an app for that?

Not at all. You can put this inside your house: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:21359

... see back to the beginning of time
so they finally see the hand of the Maker:
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Am I the only one

Just like economic theory then.

I certainly don't want it redirected to some other unknown IP address!
There's no place like 127.0.0.1. It's hardly an unknown IP address
Off course that is not enough. It's facebook. All your data are belong to them.

I really wonder why in a so-called democracy, only two candidates matter. In a real democracy, this would be absurd.
I am a wererabbit!

I work in a nuclear plant. Shall I try it?
IBM has ~35,000 patents.

Isn't there a Pirate Party in the USA?
Given the nature of finance these days, PLEASE DO write the software in Intercal. Or in Brainfuck.
