I have an iPhone that tells me the time, but I wear a blue-tooth so I don't have to fish it out of my pocket and flash it around. Besides being convenient, a good watch is fun, if they are falling out of favor its because the average Walmart plastic watch is just junk.
I love watches, but the choices today seem to be plastic crap, or $3000 mechanical marvels. So I favor mechanical geek watches. Mostly vintage Accutron watches, "The ones that ran on a 360hz electric tuning fork. Also, the occasional digital from when digital meant expensive. The TI digitals are retro antiques, anf the Accutrons were the most accurate watches in the world pre quartz. More reliable than a high end mechanical chronograph.
The Accutron 214. This movement had a history with the space program, and there were 214 based timing mechanisms in the Apollo capsule, and some early satellites.

And the same type of "tuning fork" watch updated for 1973, still working perfectly,

Lastly, some vintage LEDs, which never seem to go 100% out of style.

Yeah, thats probably about the size of it, some person has gone through my comments and tagged virtually every pro Apple post as trolling.:)
They even "trolled" me for calling MYSELF an atheist! Now I know why people just post anon. Too many basement dwelling fanboys with grudges and nothing to do but mod down anyone they disagree with. This place makes El Reg Look mature.
I think I shall join the great ranks of Anonymous cowards. Heh.
I use Linux too but mysteriously that never gets "Trolled" I wonder why?
Ipods have a default one YEAR hardware warranty. 90 days is phone support. But nice fud. How much phone support do YOU need to use an ipod? iPods are NOT rocket science.
I fix ipods, I collect broken ones from non technical people and build new ones. If you can't fix an iPod, you are nobody to criticize anyones tech skills.
I fix my own hardware thanks. I love messing with the genius bar, they are just short of useless for any serious tech questions. I stumped four Apple support people just trying to get someone to answer a CPU temp question. Heh.
Mac service packs are free. Leopard has had two since it came out. Stop lying. Why can't Windows users tell a new os from a service pack? Perhaps because Apple gets their service packs out regularly? And they actually IMPROVE performance?
I do agree with one thing, on a PC, iTunes, Quicktime and Safari are a mistake. But then again thats the Microsoft's fault. They work just fine on a Mac. Windows is the mistake.
My MBP is an "real adult computer". I like my Darwin BSD. I've fixed hundreds of PCs over the years.
I've got a Mac from 99 kicking around that can still web browse with an up to date os "Tiger" Name an nine year old PC that will run Vista? Or Even XP properly?
I fixed PCs for 14 years before I went Mac. I know about PC. What you apparently know about Mac is petty much nothing.
No actually, I'm on disability, I have very little money. So I bought a computer I'll get at least five years of real use out of instead of a two year throw away HP or Dell.
As to replacing the phone, most people replace their phones every two years or so, the trendies replace them every six months. I'm certainly not discarding an 8 month old phone for GPS and faster networking. Sometimes buying the cheapest is not the best way to save money.
"I" have an iPhone "and a Macbook Pro for that matter" its a nice phone, but its a PHONE for fucks sake! I bought mine a month after the line standing dimwits got bored.
What drives people to stand in line like like this? I may get a 3G iPhone at some point. I probably will, when the old phone is two years old. But to stand out on a street corner like a kid waiting for a new video game console?
And don't just blame Mac users, just like iPods. There are plenty of iPhones hooked to PCs. "Can you blame them? I mean, have you LOOKED at Windows Mobile?"
I have this MAC and it's so much better than a PC even though it IS a PC but but... (explodes) Except it works reliably and isn't a mess of security patches and unreliable crap code.
Try again.
Its part of why I finally gave up PCs, I just couldn't afford the gaming arms race. The demands of a new $300 video card every six months and a new mother board every year, and of course new compatible ram for same.
As I got older I realized that games were a smaller and smaller part of why I wanted a computer. Its cheaper and easier to just buy a console. After that why did I need Windows? "Games is all Windows is good for anymore". Or a PC that became worthless in two years? You can buy a mac Mini for $600 and sell it on eBay in two years for $400. Net cost of ownership $200. Less than I spent on a video card in the old days. And I still game on my Macbook Pro. and without paying the Microsoft tax.
PCs? No thanks. And If I build a Hackintosh someday I'll do it on my own, and not make it a tin box that sounds like a hairdryer.
Big difference here. When Apple buys a company, its to develop and improve the product, then integrate it into their line. When Microsoft buys a company, as often as not its to kill competition. A lot of what Microsoft buys is simply bought to get it off the market and out of the way.
I'd avoid the library for SF. Though for fantasy its ok.
I have a stock method of SF book shopping. I go down the lines and look for books with the Baen and Tor imprints.
This thins out a lot of subpar crap, especially with Baen. As a lot of dross that gets through publishers who don't really CARE about SF is thinned out. Its getting tougher for hard SF fans as so many places you go, the SF rack is either all Fantasy, or the endless chains of cookie cutter Star Trek/Dr.Who series which is incredibly frustrating,
Yes, when I but when I buy a computer from an American company, and call tech support as an American, its nice to get an English speaking AMERICAN tech person. Its pleasant. It lets me know that when my job went to India, some of them stayed here.
"Unless you're actually an Indian from Bangalore."
I suspect if you do call tech support as an Indian in India that is exactly what you get.
Not really. OSx86 anyone?
Its a full install, that works with a blank drive and a new machine. unlike a store bought Windows upgrade that will only install if it sees a previous version of the OS.
In no way is it an "upgrade" OS disk in the present sense of the word.
"Note, I have a Macbook Pro" though I want to build a Hackintosh at some point just for the fun of it.
I was going to say, when I build someone a desktop, "meaning I couldn't talk them into a Mac" I insist on MSI. Never had a bad one, not even during that year or so of bad caps.
No, the $129 is not a "upgrade" version. When I bought Leopard I loaded it onto a blank drive. "We don't need to go though all that activation nonsense either"
OS X Leopard. One version, one price. $129. The only other version is Server.
There is no such thing as a Leopard upgrade version. If you don't know, Don't FUD.
Ok, what did THIS get modded down for? Please explain. Foolishly I though I was contributing.

I got modded down for trolling for telling off a troll? Someone's priorities are pretty bad.

Maybe so, but at least I'm not an anonymous troll. So I have that working for me. :)
yes, it means I can't type.
Bullshit, Tell that to my girlfriend. She got me to get my first Mac. We love well made, well deigned and elegant products. ;)

More from trolling anon cowards. Proud enough to FUD it, but not proud enough to sign your name.

I've gotten the USA every time. "I asked" But I live in Minnesota, we are practically Canadians anyway. Think of us as Canadians with guns.

If atheism is a religion, than bald is a hair color.
The correct statement is why would windows be so much more?
