Hey man - I like your post because you seem to have it right. I have been a mystic for the last 10 years now. I don't practice a religion or a teaching, as you say, i find truths by careful observation of everyday things.. and i have come across some very "scary" truths. One of them is an explanation for magic. I have come to realize that black magic and white magic are the same force, just that one is done for good and the other is done for evil. I have also figured out how magic works, its basically the power of belief, which is supplemented by the power of "naming" I call this general process "kerning" (its my own term =P ) Basically if you are trying to understand things like magic then you have to take a little bit from each source you come across, hold it in the back of your mind, till you can iterconnect it to something else that you come across that seems related. The skill of finding relevent links between two or more ideas is the key. If you don't have the skill, you're likely to come to some BS conclusion.. but if you are good at it, then you will discover truth. Perhaps if you do not have much skill you can practice on making predictions of economic events or world events and in the next 6 months and if they come true, you know that you can trust your skills. It took me 10 years to understand "magic", not that I was trying, for in mysticism, you don't "try" anything... things come to you.. its like starting with a puzzle piece and just going through life sifting through puzzle pieces, being keenly aware of the piece you have, so that when you can recognize the kind of piece you are lookin for. And as you know.. you only know what the connector for that piece your looking for should look like, that is like one of the connectors on your piece... so you can never really know exactly what the piece will look like since it will have other connectors that you don't know about... so that is like real mystic practices where you know only partially what you are looking for. Also if you don't have that much "skill" in finding links between pieces, you may try to fit a piece that doesnt quite fit and force it to fit, and as you know this will introduce cascading errors, deviating more and more from the truth.... that is why most people fail, because of their impatience or their lack of observation skills. Anyway, msytics are philisophical hackers... yea thas right. Most posts on this subject are unenlightened. All of ya are a bunch of trolls on this subject.. haha, kinda ironic how you all think i'm the troll.. fug you all, err except for you LionKimbro.

It depends on what we want for our future. Right now techies go to work, program away like slaves and come back home to tinker with their own programs. In the future... we will not be so dependent on the corporation. We will become empowered and wield unprecedented influence in world affairs. Though new technologies may help us better understand our world neighbors at a more intimate level, yet we can't expect to know enough about a country simply by an IRC chat or email. Simply put, we need to know our human history. Also we have to realize the complications of the technologies that we create. If we create things blindly without putting boundaries on things, we risk putting humanity in grave danger. Just think of homegrown genetic virus in the equivalent hands of those who run DDOS attacks now a days. Or imagine pushing laws back further and further, so things like drugs become legal or we decide that religion has no place in government. In case you didn't know, its to religious ideals instituted by our forefathers in the constitution that is just barely keeping this nation together.

Now back to history. We can learn history on our own, but it would be nice if someone would help answer our questions when we are stuck, help pace us through our studies and put us in an environment where we can get feedback from our peers... oh wait a second.. the educational system does that. Gosh how about that.

  11. Tommorrow's "newtype" corporations on The Corporate Republic · · Score: 1
I belive Katz is right about that this corporatist mentality is sweeping the net. But, unlike him, I don't worry that this will last forever. In fact I am already creating a company of the future. I call it a "newtype" corporation. These coporations will be less centralized and will be created from the bottom up not the other way around, the way they are today. Corporations of tommorrow will start out as small bands of people on the internet recruiting those whom they deem worthy enough to become part of their group. Once the number of recruits has hit critical mass, the company will find that it has enough members covering all the traditional functions (HR/legal/accounting) of a company to be able to do business on a large scale. These companies will be stronger than their predecessors because they are started from the ground up. This means that they won't be as hard pressed at finding recruits and in the process choosing inept or unmotivated people. Because "newtype" corporations will have more loyal and motivated employees they will be more efficient than the one's we see today. Needless to say, I am starting a company like this already

I have come up with this vision on my own and I don't want people like John Katz putting this up in his next article making it sound like it came from himself!

It's the "newtype" corporations that will replace these traditional companies. Traditional companies will scramble, but they will fall on their big fat asses. heheh then they will break up into little units and "newtype" will acquire them. "Newtype" companies like mine will begin to surface soon kicking out the bullshit old-establishment companies.. not to mention the lame ass dot-coms out of the business space.

Perhaps these "newtype" corporations will have a heightened sense of consciousness as well... like Amuro Rey hee hee

For example I could see the Gap having an ad with Metallica singing one of their songs .. with an all white background.. heheh as is typical of their ads. Also it is very likely that many bands will do the solo thing and do short stints with various corporations because a) they don't want to associate with any one corporation b) corporations don't want to be associated with any one particular band. In response to your proposition 1) Making an album good enough to buy would cost a lot more studio time/creativity time and as you know time translates directly to money. This additional cost will effectively cancel out the additional revenue made from higher sales of the "quality" album. Also about rabid fans paying for their favorite artists out of respect, see how much Paylars.com has made for Metallica.. i think they are up to $163 lol.

As for point 2. You know that I said the same thing, that is to say forget about making money from albums in the future. Instead bands are going to make money from corporate sponsors

Once streaming media becomes commonplace people will set up servers to upload songs for free.. heheh like the radio.. hallo. I don't pay for my radio service... remember they make money from corporate sponsors as well. hehehe.. see music is going to get more corporate and thats the way its gonna be. I have come up with a solution to this problem. Before anything else, I'd like to say that I base my predictions on the music industry being unable to stymie the flow of copied material on the web resulting in the eventual acceptance by lawmakers, that copying albums is ok and hence not illegal.

What is going to happen is recording studios will eventually learn that their fight is a losing one and will adopt my way, that is to find corporate sponsors to pay for artists that they broker. Smaller artists may be able to go directly to the corporate sponsors, but it will be hard to get to the better paying, more established companies. The mainstream artists will more likely go through music houses turned music broker.

Yes you heard me right, in order to survive the music houses will have to turn into music brokers, who broker their artists like shares in a company.

These corporate sponsors will shell out millions to the most popular and/or talented artists in exchange for the artists marketing their companies in commercials and online/offline ads.

I also believe that concerts will be a bigger source of revenue for these bands as a result of the wider exposure that they will get from the free distribution of mp3s.
