First Post!!! Not... Now on to my comment. I am very glad that the RIAA is finally getting it's rear kicked by the courts.

Well for that Wine could be ported more easily than C&C. Why? Wine already runs on OSX (which the iPhone supposedly runs). Releasing it bundled with C&C would be simple. C&C already runs perfectly in Wine, so there is nothing to fear.

You posted this anonymously for a reason. This is NOT Qemu. I have used Qemu, and it IS faster than VBox, but VBox is much easier to use and with this I can finally dump Qemu for it. That is, until I get Xen working with my nVidia drivers, then I can dump this for real paravirt!

Windows has more fine grained control over security than Linux WTF? I can make a completely unprivileged user or 2nd root (almost) in Linux. I can fine tune the control scheme to prevent anyone but me and a couple of other users from accessing specific files and directories. There is iptables. And I can modify the kernel source if I want to get deeper control. Can you do that in Windows? (If you can I want to know how!!)

That is part of the point. Java on both platforms is very similar (though not exactly the same), so the test is more of 'Which OS is faster?' than 'Which Java is faster?'

It is very stupid to attempt to install Windows after Linux. Believe me, I know from personal experience. It takes many hours longer to install Windows 2nd. This means that they probably had Windows as Partition 2 (1 being the recovery partition), and Ubuntu on Partition 3.

Then there's the problem with "the browser as application platform" model. Eventually, we're going to have to realize that it's better to eliminate the browser and let our apps communicate directly with servers, if we want to have better security and performance.

Exactly, the problem with that is that then everyone builds Windows only apps for their sites, locking out Linux and Mac users

I think you made a typo. Here let me fix it:

Precisely. Unions have a long term interest in the money, the executives often have a mid term interest in the money.

For those of you who don't know, when the price of stocks you own goes up, you don't make money. You don't make any money on said stocks until you sell them. Which is why execs have interest in them: stock price |^| == money |^|
