Linux is desktop material to a particular type of desktop user, just as ChromeOS will most likely be marketed as a niche, low cost product. I think one should not associate the term "netbook" with ChromeOS. "Web Tablet" is more appropriate.
Price. No HDD and the ability to streamline components because it only does certain things cuts cost, which in turn cuts price.
I can see people buying a "Web Tablet" that they already know all they intend to do with it is just what ChromeOS does, and then they have a normal computer for the real work. It's actually closer to the original "idea" of a netbook. A simple, inexpensive booklet that just does the internet.
1. Columbine. Girl was killed for her faith, being verbally abused to "denounce your god or I'll kill you."
2. Lenin. "The more religious we kill the better."
There's more, look it up yourself. Atheism isn't immune to the insanities naturally inherent to humanity as a whole. Such evils know no philosophical boundaries.
But more to the point, no where was "killing in the name of atheism" mentioned in the parent of your post.
Ever considered asking Nintendo? "Hey, I updated to 4.2 and my Wii won't boot... No, I don't have a mod chip... No, I don't have any homebrew.... So, can you help me?" Consider for a moment how customer friendly Nintendo was when Wii Remotes were being thrown at TV screens. Not only did they replace the Wii Remotes, but they replaced the TVs and reimbursed for some medical costs as well. And then they quickly released "fixes", for free, in the form of reinforced wrist-bands and protective coverings for the remotes.
It's pretty pathetic that such visceral complaints are keeping you from collaborating in such an intelligent and engaging community. Perhaps you should reevaluate your stance on this after some deep thought.
Funny, outside of Internet Exploder, I find the most problems, in actual day to day usage, in Webkit based browsers. Opera and Firefox each have problems, yes, but I find they perform better than the competition, in terms of actual day to day usage.
I, too, run many browsers routinely.
Yes, SVG displays really well in Webkit, and there are other areas where Webkit outperforms Gecko, but often not in areas of general usage.
But my actual comment focuses more on the fact that the Webkit developers seemed to drop everything and focus on passing Acid3, placing general usability in second priority.
Standards are important, but not so much to drop everything for a silly test. A student that studies just to pass the test most often fails at life, and that's where I've grown to place webkit so far. Rush to pass the test, play catch-up in general usage.
Other than that, kudos for taking a snyde remark overly serious. *thumbs up*
Arguably, the largest chunk of that 90% would be able to use Ubuntu just fine without ever opening the terminal too. And quite possibly without ever installing extra software. Most users of computers just need a Web Browser and an Office suite.
As much as they'd like to, PC Gamers do not comprise your '90%' of people.
I used to work Verizon DSL tech support. On my team, the first step of install was to throw away the CD.
When I worked there, that CD was "Windows only". It didn't work on Mac or Linux, of course. And even then, 9/10 times it didn't work in Windows either.
I disagree, unless you are specifically refering to the use of SVG as an Open alternative to SWF. But SVG is much more than that. I simply don't see SVG and SWF being comparable in this manner.
iTunes runs on Windows, but it would be very Apple to put features in the Mac iTunes and exclude them from the Windows one.

Unless of course that taste is like chicken.

The problem is that the government and Microsoft act as if people are robots and will only behave in certain ways.
Fixed.

... like Serial Numbers? :O That are tracked when they connect on WC24? :O That you register and are bound to your Wii Shop account? :O

I've heard the screams of the vegetables, watching their skins being peeled. Grated and steamed with no mercy... how do YOU think that feels?
Yep, FC1 helped test these grounds. ::fondly remember NPTL kernel builds::
Obviously, Google needs to update their Calculator, duh.
Well, Duh, it's Red. :D
All hail the "Year of the Citrix"

On the flipside, do you prefer a browser that doesn't give a shit about users and only strives for the perfection of Acid3? *coughSafaricough*

... and have some features disabled.
If by "Some" you mean "all"?
s/ONE/TWO is from the text editor vi (and now vim). It's one way to replace text with other text when in escape mode. vim is a popular text editor.
Buh? s/ONE/TWO is a REGULAR EXPRESSION. It's not "from Vim". Educate yourself: http://www.regular-expressions.info/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression
