No way. Windows users are bunch of sissys, wimps, and p*ssies. I mean, can Windows users stand the pain of tattoos? Where are the sites of tough nerds with Windows tattoos?

I'll bet you Windows peeps start crying like little French girls at the thought of needles.

Please don't. Ask yourself whether you'd want to use this machine everyday.

I volunteer for a medium-sized nonprofit. We get a fair number of PIII's that we use and a lot of 486's and PI's that we can't. Sure, we get a lot fewer PIII's and even PIV's, but there's enough out there on the market that our staff of sixty all have PIII's and above. People think they can just dump off their toxic crap and get a tax write off. Instead, they just shift the burden of getting rid of this stuff on us.

Go take it up with Opera. There's a redirect that pushes you to the secure version which your browser should then encrypt. It works with NS/Moz and IE. You can see the same bug in action at Wells Fargo's online banking.

And BTW, Mozilla doesn't work with the third party processing company, Bank of America, so don't bother. Blame it on BofA. Mozilla doesn't pass HTTP_REFERRER, which is an optional header. BofA's knumbskull system requires it.

  13. Don't trust Logitech on Logitech Pocket Digital Review · · Score: 1

When OS 9 came out, it broke the serial drivers for Logitech's QuickCam cameras. Logitech's response was to tell everyone T.S., buy a USB card and shell out an additional $100+ for their USB camera, the QuickCam VC, if they want OS 9 support.

Today, there's no OS X drivers for their Mac "supported" QuickCams - the VC and 3000. Even worse, previous references of "OS X drivers are under development" have been removed from the drivers page. Out of their whole family of products (scanners, gaming devices, keyboards) the only thing that have OS X drivers are the mice, and they've been in beta for eons.

Logitech *used* to have a heavy Mac presence. Companies that don't support the mac don't tick me off. However, companies that made their fortunes during the late 80's with Mac peripherals, and then abandoned the mac in the mid 90's really piss me off.

  17. Get them before they get you on Where Should Company Loyalty End? · · Score: 1
    Two cents:

After 20 years with a manufacturing company, my father was laid off in a recession during the early 80's. I was six years old, and it taught me a valuable lesson: Employers owe you nothing.

Nowadays, stories of layoffs and cutbacks from large companies are routine. I myself work for a large national financial company, and have survived 2 rounds of layoffs in my three years here. After each wave, morale is low, loyalty is nonexistant, and upper management has the gall to wonder why people are unhappy. It's really very simple. People around here have figured out that the company can and will screw them if needed. The smarter employees are just here to collect a paycheck by selling their labor. In a way, it's a bit sad and dysfunctional.

I have adopted an oath that I remind myself of when I start with a new employer.

    1) I will give 110% to this employer. I will work hard. I have no problems with coming in early or staying late. If I work for a company, I will believe in it. I will be unwaiveringly loyal to my company as long as I work there.
    2) I will be compensated fairly. If I take on more responsibilities, I expect to be paid more. If not, I will raise the issue with my superiors. 3) I will take as much training and experience as I can from the job.
    4) At some point, this employer-employee relationship will end. That is just the simple nature of labor and work these days. Long gone are the days of spending your whole career with one company. Even 10 years is rare.

The time will come when I realize that I must move on. Whether that be impending layoffs, or an unfavorable change in culture. If you don't leave on your terms, you will leave on the company's terms, and that may not be pretty.

One final note regarding your friends. Your actions towards them define your reputation and character. True, they're not as important as yourself or your family, and if you leave, they probably won't hate you. They'll probably understand. However, if you all feel the same way about your company, and you try to find something for them, it's nothing but positive karma for you. I've had two managers here that have left to go work for other companies. Both asked me to join them in their new companies. Although I declined, I still keep close contact with them because I remember what they've done for me. I consider them people of integrity, and am proud to call them my friends.

I'm having the same sort of problem on my Yosemite G3/350 with System 8.6. I've noticed it happens with anything that's beyond a simple preference change - bookmarks, themes, and Sidebar, to be exact. Clicking OK sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. However, regardless, the change doesn't take place unless I quit/relaunch. Even if OK doesn't dismiss the dialog box, I can quit, and when i relaunch, the change will take place. Launch time for me is 14 seconds. This is an increase over 4.76, which takes 11. It's a shame. I really like the new user features.
