  1. Google Gobles up the .... on YouTube Passes Yahoo As #2 Search Engine · · Score: 0

Looking at the stats there was no significant increase in Youtube's traffic, just a drop in Yahoo's traffic which was obviously due to Google's [double team tag] ever growing hold on the search market.
But is it even fair to compare Youtube and Yahoo?

Detachment of each tab is possible and yes it keeps the URL.

  3. Finally got my hands on it on Mozilla's Thoughts On Google's Chrome · · Score: 0

Its safe to say it has retained the "hallmark" google qualities of speed through simplicity. And I have read through the comic and was impressed by what was on offer.
I would have to use it for few days or maybe weeks to comment on its performance, hope it delivers what it promises.

I tried to access the site http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord/ in order to contribute to the "World Record" and I got a Network Timed Out error.
It just occurred to me this is a like a open invite to a albeit "Unintentional" Denial Of Service Attack.
Asking people to access a site within a given time frame. This is how the DOS attack used to be carried out in the good old days, when bots were not a craze.
For now I am just waiting for my chance to download FF3 and contribute to the "record".

Sure they lack the skill, and in related news "Pigs Can Fly".

You dont need to have special "skills" to become a script kiddie, which is enough to get into vulnerable systems.

  8. DPI Ahead!! on Three ISPs Agree To Block Child Porn · · Score: 2, Insightful

Doesn't this imply deep packet inspection will be legitimized. I see a pattern here first the British Telecom now ISP's in the US.

By all means bring down the sites with child porn, but this should be a excuse to control "all" traffic.

This problem has to be nipped in the bud, if not there will be no end to what the ISP's will dictate.

  9. Duh! You might want to redefine your lifestyle. on Is Google Making Us Stupid? · · Score: 1

Am a big fan of Google, but equating Google to Internet is plain ignorance to say the least. Yes its true that some of our mental faculties (apparently for you map reading skills and ability to tell time are big skills) will take a hit, but you need understand that we have access to knowledge far more than ever in the history of human race.
Access to advanced knowledge was privilege of the elite, not the case anymore thanks to the internet. The kind of accelerated learning and development thats happening is mainly due to computers and internet is unparalleled.

Data is accessible to more people and they are contributing at lighting speed and things that would have come say 5 years down the lane are happening within weeks. This means the people who have any "real" skill or capability will continue to "advance" faster.

Just like any communication medium web can be used to "tweet" or use it to increase your knowledge and contribute to it. So stop blaming the web for your shortcomings!!

We have no duty to sacrifice for others, and our own prosperity should be our first consideration. I say sell Beijing whatever it wants, and quit caring about how Asians handle internal affairs. Thats a great attitude towards humanity and what happened last time people thought that way.. I will give you a minute to think..
    We had two world wars!!!
And no one is asking for your to sacrifice but at least don't sell weapons to people whom you know are committing crimes against humanity.
And believe me I am a strong advocate of capitalist economy; that doesn't mean its OK to sell weapons and empower countries like china to suppress their people.
When they are done with their country, GUESS WHO'S NEXT
  13. Re:He had a trial, at least. on Syrian Blogger Sentenced to Three Years in Jail · · Score: 1

At least they gave him a trial. What happened with the Syrian Blogger is not justified by any means. Just because "People are being freed from Guantamo after 6 years without ever even having being charged with anything" doesn't mean putting this guy through a "sham" of a trial and sentencing him for 3 years is acceptable.
Comparing those two events is gross stupidity.

No one should be imprisoned for expressing one's views. Govt. control over what information citizens see is just as bad. Where will it stop? Who will decide whats appropriate?

These are disturbing events, should not be ignored or tolerated!!
