When I read the (non-slashdot) article when it originally came out, they hold the record for the fastest speed in a vehicle entirely powered by solar panels. Most solar vehicles use the panels to charge batteries, and then run from the battery, whereas this vehicle used the power directly.
Does it really matter that much?
We have about 16 hojillion koalas in this country.
Looking at the number of people who have died of HIV/AIDS, it hasn't made any kind of dent in our population
Is it really going to be any different for the koalas?
Or perhaps we should all just wait and see what the hell this virus does, before deciding that it's actually significant.
Children fucking? Where? Must be because of all the fucking they see on TV and Games. Ban all interactive entertainment, as well as real-life fucking! Solves two things at once...no fucking for children to learn from, and no future generations of children to worry about!
We can already do this in Australia. Electronic submissions have been around for at least the last five years, and you only need to fill out every section of the form the first time you submit electronically. In subsequent years, and info which has not changed (such as address, employer details etc) doesn't need to be manually entered, but is auto-filled from the Tax Office servers.
There was also a suggestion recently that they should simplify the system even further, and remove the need for people who only need a "simple" tax return to submit a form at all (I'm not sure how they were going to define "simple"). This supposedly would mean about two million less tax returns every year.
They don't have to "keep up-to-date with the violence levels". If an R18+ sticker is slapped on the front of a box, who the hell is going to buy it for their 12 year old, and still think it is a good idea?
Admittedly, some people will still buy these games for their teenage kids at home, but these people are the reason I advocate a mandatory parenting licence.
I don't know that this is actually news-worthy.
I have never worked for a company which has not suffered email outages, no matter how their email is supported.
Granted, GMail has a large list of client companies, but you are a fool of the highest order if you think the name will protect you from outages.
.....Amazon's "'solution' to the problem was stupid, thoughtless and painfully out of line with our principles."'
So how the hell did this ever happen then?
What kind of brain-fart does someone have to have to make this seem like it was ever going to end well?
That's just...ridiculous. No wonder they have such enormous speeds compared to the US. At least the States get a decent speed though. Here in Australia you tend to pay through the nose for anything more than 1Mb/s
Whether this has any significant effect on climate change I do not know, but in Australia at least this is an area that is beginning to be looked at.
I work for a rather large wine company, producing many millions of litres of wine every year, and we now need to start looking at the amount of carbon dioxide produced during the fermentation process. The carbon limits set up by our green-loving government (which I do not pretend to understand) have our company pegged on the limit of a "high level" carbon emitter. These limits are due to be revised in the next couple of years (so I have been told), and this will tip us over the edge.
So, alcohol may or may not be contributing significantly to global warming, but carbon emissions in the alcohol industry is an area where Australian businesses need to look.

Damn it, kids, Latency and bandwidth are not the same thing and anybody who makes that mistake should be forced to use a "1Gb/s" connection via fedex.
1Gb/s via almost any means is nearly certain to be faster than what I currently have. Damn you Australia and your Telcos!

"10 years of experience" does not constitute "scientific evidence"
It's a bit difficult to make an entertaining game based on bad porn, worse teeth and warm beer.
