by using the subject "Linux on the Playstation 2" Taco sure saved everyone from a whole lot of "Gee, I thought the PS/2 was supported for a long time." and "MCA all the way!" troll posts.
[sarcastic]
Could you say that Napster uses ROT13 twice to encrypt the file names? Would that then protect your files from block, as they shouldn't know the encryption used?
[sarcastic]
It's a cute idea, but since it's a pre-existing encyrption(!?!) pattern, doesn't that make it mute? What they should do is develope something like like ROT13 but using 12 instead..:) much like CSS (ie DeCSS), it's new... not necessarily good, but protected none the less.
well, there is the badmem kernel patch that allows the kernel to find bad memory and remember what sections not to use. it was in Linux Journal last month(?) wasn't it? Linux may not perform any better when the RAM craps out, but it won't do it twice.
couldn't you implement a PPTP tunnel on a Linux box with the PPTP "device" as the gateway for the internal network? or pptp to the linux box and then use another interface on the linux box to route the internal network?
They want the *whole* market. If RedHat becomes better, it just helps everyone because they release the source to thier software. Mandrake can take what redhat changed. blah blah blah
With the public not wanting to take RESPONSIBILITY for thier actions, they need to find someone to blame. Cig companies provied that because everyone hates cigs... even smokers.
You've really got to be a fucking moron to thing "Gee, let's stick this flaming stick in my mouth that makes me cough, and belches out black smoke from tar. It's not bad for me."
1. Laundry
2. Put PC back together after Lan Party.
3. Play with birds
4. Take apart optical mouse to see if I could change the red LED to blue.
5. Made dinner.
Every time the commercials came on, it's time to run to the TV. I loved the Volkswagen GTI in a tree commercial, the E-Trade chimp-n-horse, and the "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Bud commercial.
Who exactly is this "michael" person to be giving any commentary on someone like Pat, who has given so much to the community? As far as I can tell, all michael has giving to the community is his views as a petty pain in the ass.
Someone at Slashdot owes Pat an apology, such "reporting" is turning Slashdot into what I call "Fuddot - Rumors for Nerds, Stuff that draws hits." I thought that's what the Onion and BBSpot were for?
got this from Ultrasparc.org *note* that RedHat hasn't said that they won't be releasing a 7.1 or 7.2 for Sparc, just that they won't have a 7.0
and why would you want a 7.0 release anyway on a production system? icky
Red Hat has so far released the following versions for SPARC:
Red Hat 3.0.4 (beta for 4.0) (Rembrandt)
Red Hat 4.0 (Colgate)
Red Hat 4.1 (Vanderbilt)
Red Hat 4.2 (Biltmore)
Red Hat 5.1 (Manhattan)
Red Hat 5.2 (Apollo)
Red Hat 6.1 (Cartman)
Red Hat 6.2 (Zoot)
As you can see, there is a sort of "tradition" in not releasing x.0 versions for SPARC.
After night one, I was quite disapointed with the show, but nights two and three were quite a bit better. In all, the princess being introduced at the beginning and playing a part in the whole of the story rather than the very end helped to make the adaptation more streamlined for the new viewer, and I found that in many places, Irulan took the place of Count Fenring and Lady Fenring.
Although I did not like the way Fenring character was placed as the Emperor's side kick and not as the deadly eunuch that he was, Irulan made sence as a political tool of her father. She included the sexual draw of the Lady Fenring in the book, but also was the political chreature that the Count was.
All in all, a very enjoyable adaptation of a great novel. I enjoyed the whole of the mini-series, but might be using liberal fast-forward durning the first two hours.:)
"Another over-the-top opportunity lost, was that the scene was cut where Paul and Jessica were discovered in the desert by the Fremen. That was an opportunity for the Fremen to comment on the prophecy, as well as for Paul to show is combat prowess. "
We might get to see that tonight. After all, they have to be found by the Fremen after the sandstorm. And there are previews of Paul "giving water to the dead" or whatever the new dialog for it is.
running X is different from 3D support, which would be needed for gaming of any great importance. I should have been clearer.
NFS SMB etc...
some things that might be better are support for the video in some kind of X, support for the sound

I'm not seeing a problem here
Who needs this for games? Why games?!?
.NET
You're going to need this to run Windows XP + Office XP
that and a T3. Fear
Didn't the Engineer in Quake 1 Team Fortress carry a railgun? And didn't that come out before Shadow Warrior?
Florida
Oh, wait.. I forgot.. they don't "count!"
hehhehe
That one's not new... it's been playing in my area (mid michigan, usa) for about 3 weeks now

EDS for the squirrels or "Ed's"
But that's the problem.

I thought that a company wants to scream "Profit-Motice"
Otherwise the would be screaming "We'll be bankrupt in 6 months."
Yeah!
Close to this happened at my house...
Used the game breaks to
1. Laundry
2. Put PC back together after Lan Party.
3. Play with birds
4. Take apart optical mouse to see if I could change the red LED to blue.

must have something else wrong, 2.4 runs noticably faster on my P3 500 and also on my P166 laptop.
you would need to forward ports, and as far as I know, autofw doesn't work with 2.4
in 2.2 you would use ipmasqadm to forward the ports back from public to private
uhh I run redhat6.2 on a e450,
slackware, debian, mandrake all have releases for sparc64
last time you checked was what, 3 years ago?
Hopefully laptop builders will make a performance graphics laptop so that I can finally purchase a laptop and be able to actually play 3d games on it.
Exciting.

the whole breeding program is lost in the mini-series other than two refrences to the KH and the part where Paul says he's before his time.
if that was a mistake remains to be seen in the next mini-series.
Oh great...
I can see it now
5:00 pm Dukes of Hazzard
5:30 pm Star Trek TNG
6:30 pm Dukes of Hazzard
7:00 pm Star Trek TNG
etc...
SciFi is going down. Who could resist the "Dazy Dukes" in one and Counselor Troy in the other. *sigh*
