You have no idea about socialized health care do you.
I live in Australia and I can go to any doctor in the country as I wish.
For GP's there is a co payment, of currently $10 for those who work, $5 for pensioners and unemployed, at some doctors. Fortunately they can also bullk bill and charge no copayment. (my GP does this).
Public hospital treatment is free.
It is most amusing that in this post you try to put down socialized medicine, when countries that have it do not suffer froom these kind of abuses.
Futhermore, even when privately insured, you still get to choose your doctor AND the insurer has NO input to your treatment.
I mixed bands for many years, and often found a decent dose of bass drum in the monitors would tighten up a loose band nicely, as long as the drummer was not the loose one!
I have noticed the same thing, but it is not what you think. One cannot hear such small variations as distict timing errors, but as a stereo image shift.
A classic example is when the drummer I play with uses his electronic kit. When he hits the kick drum, I can hear the click of the beater against the drum, and then the drum sample sounds, almost immediately. The sound seems to travel across from the beater to the speaker, but there is no sense of an echo type effect.
I forget the exact timings, but if you delay one channel of a stereo signal slighly compared to the other, it will sound like the sound is all coming from one speaker, it is a very starnge thing.
Well played Sir. You are absolutely correct. After many years in the live music scene as an engineer and Bass/Guitar player I find I dislike any sequenced music, it is flat and boring.
I have come to regard the entire commercial music industry since 1990 as a garbage recycling industry.
It is no coincidence that the coming of digital recording, using click tracks occoured around the same time as most rock music turned to crap. The use of such precise time destroys the Soul and swing of a band.
I have been playing Bass for 35 years, and have played with a lot of drummers. The guy I play with currently is not a great drummer, but he can follow a click track no problems.
I find in bands without a click I am the metronome, as I have good time. (Though I find it remarkably tiring, when I played with a really good drummer I found it far more relaxing)
As for the best drummers, Kennis Arnoff would be right up there.
I would rather listen to Keith Moon or Ian Paice than any of the drummers you mention.
I am quite surprised there are any drummers on Slashdot.
Which brings me to drummer Jokes.
Q:How do you know when there is a drummer at the door?
A:The knocks are out of time and he comes in at the wrong moment.
Q: How do you know when the stage is level?
A: The dribble comes from both sides of the drummers mouth!
Q: What do you call someone who hangs out with musicians?
A: A drummer!
At a dinner where people are seated according to thier intelligence, the first table has Scientists and Doctors.
The second has lawyers and managers and programmers.
The third has Electricians, plumbers and other trades people.
The fourth has labourers.
The last table has just 2 people sitiing at it. After a few minutes one of them turns and says to the other "What kind of sticks do you use?"
Guy goes into a shop and says I want a Fender Strat, a Marshall amp and lots of pedals to make it scream. Shop owner says "You must be a drummer" Guy says "How did you know" shop owner says "This is a butchers shop"
"I still can't agree that people should eat food and drive cars that they can't afford.I don't to see how health care should be any different.'
Yeh, of course and the poor should just consider themselves lucky when they die for lack of treatment too huh? Health care is not always a luxury you can take or leave you know!
In neither system can a claim be denied by the insurer or govt, the doctor decides treatment and you get it.
How some US citizens put up with the diabolical situation of beancounters deciding treatment, then abuse the concept of universal health care always shocks me.
Even when it is a privately insured patient, the only person with any input to your treatment is the doctor, as is completely appropriate.
Ahhh, never let the facts interfere with a good rant eh/
In most countries that have socialized medical, it is only elective (Non essential) surgery that has waiting lists. Life saving surgery is done straight away. So you face lift might have to wait but your bad heart will get immediate attention.
I live in Australia where we have public healthcare, and I have always found it pretty good.
No fund (HMO) accountant decides your treatment (Even in the private care insurance system) here either. That you allow accountants to decide what treatment you get and then try to put down universal healthcare is stunning.
As a long term reader I just dont see the problem, I have not noticed Kdawson being any better or worse than any other, what I am sick of is people whinging about something that is obviously NOT going to change. So how about you all STFU and get on fing topic?
I flew a sailplane in South Australia on the day the fires occoured in Victoria, riding the front of the incoming change.
I took off and climbed to 10,000ft, and took one look around and headed straight back to the airfield and landed, with a total flight time of 28 minutes.
The front that brought the fatal wind change was the most frightening weather I have ever seen. Ground temp at takeoff was 49 C, wing was gusting to 40kt early in the day.
We have experienced so much hot weather in the last 10 years, the expression has changed to Is 40C the new 35C?
Where I live in South Australia is facing 40C and strong winds this Thursday. One decent spark and half the State could burn. I have lived here for 38 years and have never experienced conditions like the last few summers.
Let me guess the moron in the SMH would be Andrew Bolt, the lead dickhead climate change denier in Australian "journalism". Chris Kenny is a close second
Regretably it is not us that are screwed, it is our descendants. Deniers dont give a fuck about the future, they just wanna keep pouring carbon into the atmosphere, so they dont have to give up thier hummers.
Why is it that Slashdot, where most folk are reasonably intelligent, has so many people who are willing to believe that climate change is a product of a huge proportion corrupt scientists, rather than than true. I guess they love thier SUV more than the children of the world.
If you are any good as a live performer, you will make a living.
If your are not making a living AC, that is because you dont entertain people.
I worked for 20 years in live entertainment both as a player, Sound Engineer and Tour Manager, and few of the players I knew made thier living form their recordings, most from their quality live performance.
You are nothing but a talentless shill going by your posts.

I have never heard of Steve Gadd, then again in my neraly all new music since 1990 has been rubbish.
I prefer simple rythmical drummers who appreciate the less is more principle.

Nice to see a Doctor who really applies the "First do no harm part of the oath!

I am not one to ever favour censorship, but blatant advertising such as the above should be simply deleted. Whatever you do DONT buy from these fucks.
This is plain wrong. The fire index for 1939 fires was 100, for these fires the index was 200+, a figure never imagined before it occoured.
Hiow do you backburn 20 MILIION hectares?
You dont.
Quite so, and the Eyre peninsular fires of last year had an index of 300!
Quite right Sir.

You are right, were screwed.
Yes Wyatt, we have survived(But not all people). But we did not have a population of over 6 billion in those times did we?
Some would survive a major climate change, how many deaths would you say are acceptable to fund an addiction to SUV's?
No need to apologize. deniers remind me of a friend of mine who thought when he used his lighter, the gas disappeared from the universe.
Its just a waste of time arguing with them.
Lets just look recently eh?
Giving money to the rich in the form of tax cuts has left the economy in a great state has it not?
Frankly the naivety of folk who believe in the con called trickle down effect borders on complete stupidity.
So a high school diploma now has the same status as the US constitution?
"the type to wear very tight pants"
You mean mumble pants?
Why mumble pants?
Cause you can see the lips move, but you cant hear what they're saying.......
Ah, this is obviously some strange new meaning of the phrase easy to replace.
"I got one that is so small it is invisible to the naked eye!"
I see, own a Hummer and an assault rifle do you?
Oh wait you mean a screwdriver......

Cow towing......but they dont have wheels, and towing them would huet their feet
Kowtowing peraps?
Errm, Wouldnt a luxury yacht(Powered by sail), by definition be a relatively low carbon emitter?
