It may not be incredibly good now, but how many technological fields have simply stopped improving? Meaning the equipment 15 years ago is practically identical to the equipment now?
Babbage Difference Engine >> ENIAC >> Mainframe >> Macintosh PC >> Quad-Core gaming rig
VHS >> DVD >> Bluray
Tape >> Floppy >> HDD >> SSD
etc.
As long as Hulu continues to work with a Linux-based browser, I'm happy.
My gripe is that it's streaming video.
My Internet connection sucks. Connections held open for any non-trivial length of time will slow to a halt and time out.
I can't always play YouTube videos, and I'm expected to load an hour-long stream!?
It would never finish, and I'd be starting from scratch every time I try. At least Bittorrent and FTP can resume.
I compromise: I allow static images through the filter with @@|$image
"Region formerly known as..."
Not talking tough for a guy who's 5'9" (or whatever height over 4'9" that I presume you must be to be dissing short people).
Napoleon was short, and I think Hitler might have been, as well.
So... -2 meters, then?
Some older tactics have changed but in some cases they still work, reference the mass invasion of Iraq.
The old tactics worked in Iraq because Iraq didn't have nukes.
That's just the radiation sickness from the fallout. Don't worry, it'll be over soon.
I use WPA2 for security, and that's not even supported at all by the 802.11b spec;
Then how have I been using WPA2 on 802.11b for the past 6 months? My entire network is G capable, but I have my wireless router in b-only mode.
That last one was far from a natural process. It took lots of effort.
Which raises a question that has bothered me for some time now:
What (approximately) is the resolution of the eye?
For Nerds this is a "Fail".

Against the country with the only deepwater navy...
If you mean "blue water navy", Britain and France also have them.
And certainly my job is less important than making laws that will govern my fellow citizens.
Important, yes. But some things to be legislated (such as piracy) don't call for that kind of urgency.
Lucky you.
As for me, well...only a few more months until the contract expires.
That 'Fences' program looks suspiciously familiar. How will that fare when KDE finishes full Windows support?
I got 25 cents until I was a teenager
I got...chores. Until I started paying rent.
it goes without saying that machine A (designed for a specific type of computing) will outperform machine B (not so designed)
The only area in which consoles are superior to my desktop for gaming is boot time.
...it works brilliant in some cases, and not at all in others, same with any other bit of software.
"works brilliantly in some cases"
"all software"
Thanks. Best laugh I've had all week.

you can download youtubes with the address bar and a little chunk of code easily enough.
Like this?
And *every* VP and senior director in the room, nodded in agreement and didn't say a god damned thing.
Did you?
Talk about killing the goose that lays the golden eggs...
Or at least chasing it away.
Yes, but much like IPoAC: It's a real standard, but nobody is expected to take it seriously.
It's good enough for Slashdot, though.
You'd be surprised how well they wield the back pair.
Finished with what?
