    Some older tactics have changed but in some cases they still work, reference the mass invasion of Iraq.

    The old tactics worked in Iraq because Iraq didn't have nukes.

    I use WPA2 for security, and that's not even supported at all by the 802.11b spec;

    Then how have I been using WPA2 on 802.11b for the past 6 months? My entire network is G capable, but I have my wireless router in b-only mode.

    For Nerds this is a "Fail".

    It may not be incredibly good now, but how many technological fields have simply stopped improving? Meaning the equipment 15 years ago is practically identical to the equipment now?

    Babbage Difference Engine >> ENIAC >> Mainframe >> Macintosh PC >> Quad-Core gaming rig
    VHS >> DVD >> Bluray
    Tape >> Floppy >> HDD >> SSD
    etc.

    it goes without saying that machine A (designed for a specific type of computing) will outperform machine B (not so designed)

    The only area in which consoles are superior to my desktop for gaming is boot time.

    As long as Hulu continues to work with a Linux-based browser, I'm happy.

    My gripe is that it's streaming video.
    My Internet connection sucks. Connections held open for any non-trivial length of time will slow to a halt and time out.
    I can't always play YouTube videos, and I'm expected to load an hour-long stream!?
    It would never finish, and I'd be starting from scratch every time I try. At least Bittorrent and FTP can resume.
