This must be very school dependent. I graduated in 1994 and the food was fantastic. Breakfast: The usual cereals from dispensers, a line if you wanted a fresh made omelette (from real eggs) with whatever ingredients you wanted: bacon, sausage, assorted veggies, cheeses...
Lunch: Burgers, sandwiches, could have grabbed a to-go PBJ at breakfast.
Dinner: Typical dinner fare, it all seemed fresh made.
I thought a hangover was not so much an alcohol withdrawal symptom as the body healing from alcohol damage and dehydration. I stopped drinking because of the hangovers, man I really hated the hangovers.
As I recall from a movie I saw a long time ago (probably sensationalist, incorrect, and overdramatized), alcohol withdrawal is more characterized by DTs (Delirium Tremens).
I'm firmly on the left from a social perspective Also libertarian regarding soundness of money. I am anti-free-trade and anti-tRumpf. Anti-vaccines (though maybe not all). Pro-science and pro-compassion. Pro-gun and pro-drug legalization.
I'm against nuclear power but definitely support sanctions against polluting nations like China, India, and the USA. I am against subsidizing the coming African population boom, however, who takes responsibility for having destroyer their fisheries (natural fishing areas) leaving them with only piracy as a means of income/survival?
Us on the "left" are not as polarized and easy to categorize as some might think.
I hate tRumpf as much as anyone else but I have always felt that on this issue he was right. The problem with tRumpf is that, given his cabinet choices, taking care of the USian worker without turning him/her/it into a pauper isn't really a priority. I have never been a free-tradist and the best decades for this country where in an era of protectionism, like what China and the EU practice. This is why I was never enthusiastic about Shillary and didn't really care that she lost, for me the battle ended when Bernie threw in the towel.
$10,000,000 is fine, we'll put tariffs on Tom Cruise movies since they'll be an import, so we'll get 40% of $10,000,000, still better than the shit deal we get taxing him at 10%. We tax on access to our market same as the EU and China do. And yet, if you get cancer in Europe, you won't be broke for the next three generations like in the US. They get something for their taxes, we get to invade oil rich areas and take their oil in the name of Exxon. Your genius professor probably goes back home when he needs medical care because, well, because he's not a moron. No, the people that vote against high taxes are the only ones that count, the ones with politicians in their pocket. The ad hominem "argument" that you use to oppose my proposal for punitive taxes on incomes over $2,000,000 is purely based on an appeal to false vanity. I ain't biting, it is a stupid ham-fisted attempt. It works on those who feel inferior but oh-so-full of potential. I'm kind of ok where I'm at, try baiting someone more amenable to your coarse approach.
Ditch diggers work damned hard for their money, so do hookers, and minimum wage employees. Have you seen the kind of effort that the guys outside Home Depot put in for $15/hour under-the-table? Effort has very little to to with achieving a high level of success, it is mostly this, in this order (YMMV) 1. Born into right family (wealthy, well-connected, white) 2. Dumb luck, right place, right time 3. Good connections developed (ties into 1 and 2 often) into a profitable business 4. Being a developer of a great idea that separates the poor and middle class from their wealth That's more or less how wealth happens. If you have wealth (something other than a decent job) then chances are you can attribute your situation to being born into the right situation. The wealthy usually attribute to talent what is most often attributable to early advantages, like tRump with his small $10,000,000 loan from daddy to go into real estate. 4.
hmm... I'll have to watch it again, it's been a while and when I watched it I didn't pay attention to that aspect of it. Thanks!
I totally agree that we are fucked if we continue with the bullshit puritan earn your living ideology. That is why the idea of UBI is already being floated across many demographics. I think it is the only way out of the automation trap, which appears to be inevitable. I am rather hopeful we'll arrive at a more intelligent and enlightened society with UBI and massive automation but I do tend to be an optimist.
Then you are in great company with those many who vote against their own self-interests. Congratulations! tRump thanks you for your vote! What good does it do the country for Tom Cruise to make tons of money if it doesn't get taxed heavily? Do those asses in seats mean that the road infrastructure got improved? Does it lead to better schools? Does allowing corporations to outsource work help keep people employed? No, but it does make them wealthier, at the expense of the middle class. They already hide it from the tax man because they own the tax man. Those that can leave should, there are many reasons to leave the US but heavy taxation isn't one of them. Ask the new President-Elect, only a rich moron pays taxes... That is plenty proof that Ronald "the moron" Reagan's trickle-down economics _theory_ has failed miserably and has been nothing more than a cruel joke on the lower and middle classes. Have a great day! Enjoy your modest wealth, know that the difference between you and a homeless person is but a round-off error to a wealthy person. That's also how much they value you.
Fuck you asshole. I'm in California and apparently it was all over before I voted early in the morning. With the Electorate College in place, it doesn't matter how I vote because every other state gets more say so than we do. Also, if Shillary hadn't been such a baby brat and demanded "her turn!", Bernie would have trounced the Cheeto Messiah. Fuck the DNC and the Clinton Machines, I blame them for the Trump win. I sure hope no one else in their family ever decides for office again, ever, not until the heat death of the universe. They were as bad as Reagan and he was one fucked up Prez.
Could it be that the economists who pretend that economics is a science have led us down a path leading to assured economic destruction? We have a money system backed by nothing, not a fucking thing! How long do you think that farce can be kept going? The average length of an empire before precipitous decline is 250 years, the USA is now 240 years old, hmmm...
Tariffs work fantastically, they are working quite well for China and Germany (the EU as well). China forces corporations to give it their trade secrets in return for access to their market and many companies are making this foolish trade. The US did very well when it had strong tariffs in place, and would do well again if we instituted them strongly especially in key industries we want to participate in (solar, electronics, communications, etc). If you only want cheap goods, pretty soon they'll need to be cheap enough so workers at Taco Bell and McDonalds can afford them because those will be the only jobs left. Most SW developer, engineering, etc jobs will be outsourced because US corporations have no nationality, soul, or conscience. So, enjoy your cheap shit while you can, the rabble will soon come with their pitchforks and torches, and assault rifles and hunting guns. I'll be in the pack too probably as being middle class puts me no more than a few unemployed months out of homelessness.
so you are arguing for the right of the obscenely wealthy to become fuck-all obscenely wealthy? Wealth disproportion is what leads to gas chambers or more likely guillotines. We need to tax the holy fuck out of the wealthy because they have all the wealth. Wanting to take it from the poor and middle class is to want to squeeze blood from a turnip. A nice punitive 90-99%% tax rate for incomes/wealth over $2 million dollars would do a lot to reduce ridiculous executive compensation. We, the middle and working class are the job creators. The wealthy investors are nothing more than rent-seeking leeches.
Imrik is right AC. Nice, good people can be unhealthy people and they want to live too. That doesn't mean they aren't unhealthy and probably form a large part of the demand for organs.
Yeah, we might also be able to stave off the Idiocracy future for maybe a few generations more. However with this new president-elect, that future may already have arrived.
I'm with drinkypoo, I'd much rather enjoy the fruits of not working and find fulfillment in learning for the sake of it and taking up farming to grow some healthy food and for barter, etc. I would happily stay home and enjoy life rather than slaving for fake money to enrich some already over-rich executives.
It has fuck all to do with the UK, that's what. However, we seem to follow the same downward spiral and however your workers get fucked ours will (or have already been) too.
Yeah, and lets fight for the right of Indian software developers to come and work here in the US and work for five dollars a day and sleep 15 to a room or in the company's garage. Because, freedom! 'Murica for the win! Or something...
How long till the Narco-traffickers and coyotes start deploying these to take down the DHS drones patrolling the borders? No I didn't RTS or RTA, so don't flame me too much.
Yeah, the ability to perceive sarcasm/humor has really plummeted lately. I blame tRump!
This must be very school dependent. I graduated in 1994 and the food was fantastic.

We offered a homeless lady a slice of freshly made, hot pepperoni pizza, she was very happy to have it. Didn't scream at me (or my kids) at all.

And me without mod points. Troll.

Having graduated UCLA, I am embarrassed about this behavior. l agree entirely with the summary, what message are they sending their students?

Good thing you bravely put your name on this moronic comment. Go back to church and ask them to flog you for being a hateful bastard.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. I guess the narco's can use rifles just as easily.
Brilliant! Please submit your contact information so I can consider you for an appointment to head of DHS.
