Could this cut down on viruses ? is this _ANYTHING_ that is executeable ? If this applies to all the M$ office scripting languages, vbscript, active-x, etc., it could be a good thing.
Perhaps this is why my moms (rather large) company is replacing chairs. She said some of them were practically brand new, but were selling them to employees for $5 ea. I wonder if they were trying to comply with OSHA.... The money they made was being donated to local charities.
What about music I make myself ? What about non-music MP3's ? What about stuff thats "freely downloadable" (lets say you wanted to archive every mp3 on mp3.com for the next 20 years).
Personally, I have to give props to any system that has a BROADBAND ADAPTER (e.g. connects to ethernet). Dunno if the dreamcast does this, but I know the ps2 does. I had a friend who writes for some smalling gaming mags review q3 on ps2 and he liked it, but

it only supports custom maps that come with it

only 4 players max

I had so many people tell me that this system was going to kick a pc's butt.....not with those limitations, but the broadband is a good start.
What is keeping ARIN from next saying that you can no longer hand out greater than/30 's as an ISP because "Everyone should be able to use NAT" ?
Nat with virtual hosting would be you can forward a single IP TO a single webserver inside the IP range.
I think it's long past time for IPv6.
What about the loss of IP's from people who give EVERY end user their own IP addres ? For normal surfing/webbrowsing user, it's not necessary. Even FTP works through it.
Just something to think about.
Likewise, if you can't justify all the IP's because ARIN forces you to use VH, do you have to return them ? or can you then "un-nat" all your normal user/client machines and use them in that case ? I have a feeling that you are NOT going to see any IP blocks returned. I hope that wasn't ARIN's point in this whole debacle.
Assuming 2600 wins, will this lead the way to MPAA including a shrinkwrap license (possibly on the disc) with each DVD ? DVD being popular and having a menuing system, I could see there being a license on the disc with "I agree" or "I do not agree" and pressing I do not agree prints a screen that says to turn off the power of the DVD player and eject the disc.
A: SETI accelerator® has up to 6 embedded processors installed on its board. Each processor calculates one work unit in about hours. That raises your output to up to 6 units every 16 hours, plus the WU your computer can handle in this time. It is like running two or more clients on a dual-processor board.(Example: A PIII 500 will process a work unit in about 8 hours. This adds up to 8 WUs every 16 hours or about one WU every 2 hours!) Lets see. Lets say I have a p3-450 or 500 or faster. I want to increase seti output. Do I go buy a dual processor motherboard for ~ $200 or so and THEN buy another p3-500 for $150 or so for $350 OR do I go buy this card for $500 ? I think the vast majorify of you guys would agree that having a 2nd general purpose proc is better than eating another PCI slot, since the general purpose proc can be used for other stuff in the future while (as far as I can see, this cannot) It doesn't make sense to buy this card if you are trying to get better performance out of a (currently) single processor intel based machine. I suppose if you can't (if you have an athlon/duron/thunderbird) or don't want to go SMP, i suppose these are ok, but seriously, what else can you do with this board ? if these were $100 with 6 processors, I might be interested, but I have a LOT better use for $500 than to spend it on a board like this. Waste of money.
WHY only gaming benchmarks? Why don't these sites put kernel compiling benchmarks or MP3 encoding benchmarks or software mpeg-2 benchmarks or effective SpecINT's/SpecFP's. The less I play games, the less useful I find these kinds of benchmarks.
Being a 21st century subscriber, I will pass on the gift and stick with my PC, a pimped out box that will probably be better than any console in the foreseeable future;)
Intel DOES have "server" boards with console ports. Check out the N440BX (the old rev. maxes out at p2-450). I don't have URL available as MAE east is currently barfing.
Check out http://www.junkbusters.org/. You can run a little free open source proxy and pick which sites automatically that you want to auto-accept/auto-decline cookies for. Works quite well.
If a promise is made that the gift is supposed to be there on time and it's not, when it _DOES_ show up, don't you have the (legal?) right to refuse it?

Not all myp3's are non-distributable.

How long before they are sued by MPAA, RIAA, etc ?
I wonder how many people in the FCC have and/or just bought AOL/Time Warner stock ...
ROOT, ROOT, not "route for the little guy", but "root for the little guy!" (and not "root the little guy" either ;) ).
:) We are going to have to teach you the appropriate use of "root"!
I guess you aren't a Linux/BSD/Unix user
I've been looking for this P3 mentioned here (page 11) but I think it only exists in Intels mind. Anyone ?
Are answering negatively because their provider isn't using the RBL and Harris is constantly spamming them ? :)

Why not install text mode blockers like lynx ? That would prevent everything except the "dirty stories" type of porn.

Could you use some sort of satellite connection ?
