Watch carefully as I suspect Apple will "magically" add this as a bullet point feature to help sell a new iteration of the product. (Failing to mention that it was previously supported) Wankers
Absolutely correct, if you don't want an all around education what you want is a vocational school and there is nothing wrong with that. However you will need that all around education to qualify as an engineer.
Given a choice most employers also prefer that you have that all around education. As someone who has hired 100+ engineers for his company I can tell you that a well rounded education is often what sets candidates apart.
At least from the Hindi side, it surprises me that Oracle, Microsoft, and IBM would risk investing in a country that's in the midst of an ethnically and religously driven cold war. Either the nukes will fly or they wont (or North Korea will or wont) but to me thats a risky position to put my money in.
Linus is not directly descended from anything AT&T did. His parents may have used a telephone during some part of his conception but I doubt his architecture was dependent on such acts.
"Thanks for your suggestion. Actually iRiver have listened to our users' need and start working with Ogg Vorbis format, ManPower have been allocated to develop the Ogg Vorbis, let's give our engineers more time to develop this format. Some users suggested to give a schedule on this issue. However, it is really difficult to tell at this moment, let's just hope it to be released as soon as possible."
Be clear when your critical about something like this and state wheterh or not you have used the setup yet? Its not like they rewrote kde and gnome to do the exact same thing. The default config is now just very similar. But fire up your favorite config tool and change whatever you like. Or if your upgrading you'll be happy that it basically preserves your old settings.
Arguing that they limit choice by customizing their configurations sounds very Microsoftish. "You cant remove IE or customize windows as these are all standard components." To met at least theirs a very similar vein executing here.
And honestly the power of Linux is in choice. Redhat is mostly targeted towards new users or corporate standard IT departments. (At least in my opinion thats what they target.) If you dont like what Redhats doing then use Debian, Suse, or roll your own Linux. But if your going to be critical of something at least try the setup so you have a knowledged criticism and not an ignorant one.
BTW: I'm not saying your ignorant as you may have tried the setup and not liked it. But I'd say the vast majority of Slashdots Hyper-Critical comments are quite Ignorant of the facts.
Jim's been involved in this for quite some time now. Its worth pointing to his site which has mostly up to date (a hell of a lot more up to date than battlebots.com) information on competitors and the history of robotic combat.
Well if anything this shows how healthy the theme support is in either project. The fact that they can get near identical views is a good thing IMNSHO. While neither project may be satisfied they I imagine that many users (myself included) are satisfied. I've been debating building a theme pack (engine) similar to this as a deb. Set up your apps right and get a similar experience on Debian regardless of what WM/Desktop you're using. (Hmmm, wonder how many desktops you could "similarize")
You should come to the events. There have been some autonomous bots and if you check the definition of Robot in the Dictionary you'll see it states "autonomous or remote controlled". You dont think that big arm on the space shuttle "robotic arm" controls itself?

The Lightning Research UF does is pretty cool. I drove by (what is and what became) their research facility going to and through Gainseville for years.
The research is done at a former military base (camp blanding IIRC). The rockets are shot from the old repelling tower (gives a slight boost as the tower is right about the same height as the pine trees that surround the facility) You can park on the highway and see where they launch the rockets from. Just dont walk around there with any big metal poles during a storm.
The rockets occasionally trigger natural lightning which is much stronger than the "triggered" lightning caused by the rockets. Its pretty cool to watch but in general its so bright and so fast you really dont see much other than the light trail burned on your retina.
Seems like Progeny is now just another Linux Distribution. I wonder how long it will be before they start lay-offs, seeking more funding, etc. Hopefully there support business can save them but in general support has been a losing proposition for Linux companies. To me Progeny is just an expensive form of Debian. I'll take the real distro thanks...
How long till the wall up all the.edu servers behind drywall? I can see the press release now "Novel Assists Colleges in tracing location of.edu domain...."
Well its been running fine for four years.....
1) Its GPL
2) Its fast
3) It doesnt require X-Windows for AWT
4) It runs just about anywhere
5) It smells nice
6) Sun doesnt Like it

One of the best features of pocketlinux is that it is Java. There is not much point in putting X on a handheld device. If you want X then buy a laptop. Making a comparison between a Sun workstation and a handheld is very apples and oranges. PocketLinux is not meant to replace your desktop/server/workstation.
First off Kaffe is currently up to 1.06 and the LW review was comparing an old 1.04 release. Why use Kaffe on an embedded device? 1) Its fast, all of the other embedded VM to kaffe and see which one is the fastest. 2) Kaffe is tiny when compared to statically compiled binaries and shared libraries with glibc. 3) Kaffes awt implementation renders straight to the FB avoiding X or any other windowing environment.
Think about it with kaffe you pretty much have the kernel and the kaffe binary and thats your os. Since it is java just about every small java application on the web will run on this thing.
And BTW: Suns java license is not Free Software. The SCSL is almost as bad as MS license for the win NT source.
Well the vtech Helio and the iPaq are based on 32 bit risc chips with mmu's. (MIPS and StrongARM) So unless palm puts an mmu and addresses the other concerns of the tiny hardware then I think youll never see a usable linux on palm hardware.
Yes you can work around not having an mmu but it makes everything development more difficult and the hardware slower.
This is what the 2nd or third article basically stating the same thing about the Agenda. There's a lot more cool handheld stuff at LinuxWorld than the Agenda. I mean yeah it is cool but sheesh is slashdot part of the marketing arm of the Agenda?
We lart Mickeysoft for vaporware and turn around and push Linux vaporware. Fo figure...
Why do we need such polls as these? Are we that much of a shallow society in need of self-gratification? To what purpose are we throwing these people up on polls and declaring them the best this and the greatest that of the millenium, century, week, or hour. One would think we position others in polls such as these because of our own lack of self-confidence.
How about "best religion of the millenium!" or "Worlds worst hunting accident of the century!" or "America's Funniest beheadings!"
I once listened to a man tell me that "America is a sick society." He was wrong, America is a society with a lot of sick people.

Well you can save and dowloand all the sections of the book you want. You just cant spider a whole book.
