  2. What I don't understand..... on Lindows Ordered To Stop Using Lindows Name · · Score: 1

is why does M$ really have to go after them? it's not like they are really hurting for money. Unfortunatly there will always be this nitch market for Windows OS.....and really no matter how Pun-y, Lindows shouldn't have to be forced to change it's name. It's not as if due to pure miss-association that Microsoft is going to go belly up do to an upstarting quzi-competitor to have this PUN-y name......It sucks, but then again, we all live in a world where anything can happen....oh well....

And why exactly should Sun open up the specs for competition that prices its products at $0 without at least getting a headstart with Solaris

Why shouldn't Sun open up it's it's specs? every other chip maker has done it, and besides, Sun has given specs to other *NIX outfits? i would find it just as frustrating as the OpenBSD team does. Why should you not have a choice of OS? You already paid for the hardware?

  6. Re:Great Sci-Fi on What Makes Great Science Fiction? · · Score: 1

Far-future, galactic empire fictions like Dune and Star Wars, tend to impose anachronistic systems of government onto far distant futures with such regularity that the result often looks more like a cheap device than a towering work of the imagination......I thought that Star Wars happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away? but I may be wrong on that one.
