This is extremely different. But someone must see a business opportunity in this niche market. Personally, I'm not the kind of guy who has the sudden urge to buy gold at the train station or airport especially at 30% over the going rate maybe some people are I guess. I'm also not the kind of guy who spends in the thousands for a burger or ice creams with gold foil shavings on it, but there are restaurants out there who do this and they are in business because some people just love gold. I wish them luck, but I'm not sure how far they can go with this idea.
If it is a large company $90/yr/pc is an outrageous price. You would be spending more for the operating system than the PC, considering most companies get a fairly good discount when buying large quantities of PCs.
I mean I'm sure a lot of these people weren't trying to intentionally cheat the scanners. No one is considerate enough to think I am sick I should get checked out to make sure I am not bringing something into the country. It should be expected people are just going to take meds to feel better and try to get home.
Since when are we expecting honestly from the Chinese Government? I mean they tried to put on a show during the Olympics with fake buildings and the Great Firewall, they forced gymnasts birth certificates. This isn't surprising that they stole code. The only difference is this time they got caught. If the program is calling back to Solid Oak servers, why not tell the servers to send back malicious code to crash the program? It would be sweet sweet revenge for Solid Oak.
I feel like this is at the end of a episode of Myth Busters where they can't get something to work so they just blow it up. We can't find water on the Moon so let's just blow some of it up instead. Waste of money when the economy is in the tank...I'm glad we have our priorities in the right place.
Perhaps he is a little misguided in saying that we need to put the job in another agency's hands, but his reason for thinking so is not. I mean what we really need to do is take some power out of the NSA's hands. This is more of the mess left by the Bush Administration. They gave them so much power because of after 9/11 and the war on terrorism. It was a big problem immediately following 9/11 because we all wanted security so much we didn't realize how much we were losing. Obama is partially to blame for this when we voted to let the telcom companies off the hook last year. Perhaps it is time to give the Patriot Act the ax or rename it the Unconstitutional Act.
Yes it is true that some burn off all of the layers and become in covered in ice, but some don't. Meteors have been found both still hot and covered in ice. and I hit submit when I went to hit edit, which is why I'm responding to myself.
Did you really just say meteors aren't hot? They burn up in our atmosphere how wouldn't they be hot. Heat is cause when anything enters the atmosphere at high speeds it is the same reason that all space crafts have special heat resistant tiles on their underbodies for when they reenter the atmosphere.
Although clouds are the hot topic right now they are nothing new. The concept as been around since the 1960s with the timesharing model. Clouds are definitely the thing of the future, and cloud security is going along with that trend. It is not that clouds can't be secured like any other network, it is that they can't be tested as easily as every other network. I mean other companies are working on cloud storage as well, the big one being EMC with Atmos. It is an intriguing concept, but get the cloud secure enough to put confidential information in it will be the deal breaker.
When I originally moved into my house years ago, I was surrounded by farmland, but in the past few years my area got built up with Shopping Centers, Neighborhoods and whatnot. The light pollution has become so bad that I don't even bother bringing out my telescope anymore on summer nights. The convenience of having many stores close is nice, but everything it comes with price and I think this one is a little bit too much. I originally moved to the area to get out of Philadelphia, now it's not much different in terms of the sky.
I think it is quite disturbing with all of the disrespectful comments on this article. I could Mod some of this, but not all of it. The guy obviously hit hard times with death of two family members by suicide and the tanking of his company. It is clear he had depression in his family and was not able to bear all of this hitting him. It is sickening that so many of you think it is a joke.
Apple needs to chill out and stop crying because they are being treated like every other cell phone manufacturer. You can always upgrade every 2 years and you get a phone discounted when you sign the new contract. It is like that with AT&T, Verizon, and T Mobile.
I mean customers aren't being treated any differently than they have been so put up with not having the newest shiny phone for a year or put out the extra cash. I mean if you wait until next year you will have the new shiny iPhone to show off to the guy who gets this one.
Although it is good to see that Adobe is getting on a security release schedule, but they need to be better in patching their applications. The PDF flaw came up earlier this year they took far too long to release a patch, I recall patching my systems with private patches because Adobe took so long. The releases should be monthly or weekly if it is a serious vulnerability.
The continuous medicating of society is a common theme in books such as A Brave New World. It was a common trend in writing of future Utopias which have become numb to emotion and expression. I look forward to this movie, but it you want a movie that has this them I recommend Equilibrium starring Christen Bale. It was only released on DVD in the United States, but was released in the UK in theaters where where it did well.
The documentary "Hacking Democracy" talks about bugs like this one as well as poorly written and easily exploited code used in these systems. It why one such system was banned from use in California. It is amazing how many government tools use extremely poor code not just voting machines, but breathalyzers and other vital hardware.
This could be great at first if it works and gains ground, but I don't foresee this service staying free for a large period of time. I mean look at Hulu, It has not been around long at all and already they are considering changing the service from free to paid. Greed and capitalism of the entertainment industry keep anything from being free for too long.
It is true this is only associates degree. But this child is doing Calculus and advanced Physics at age 11. To give a little more perspective on this matter. Most kids his age are doing multiplication, division, ratios, decimals and some basic geometry. And most science is a low level life science. I mean this boy is taking classes that he would be normally be taking nearly ten years down the road. I mean I'm sure he isn't going to just stop learning after this year. Down be surprised when we hear about him a few years down the road when he graduates with BA or Masters from a respectable school. I mean he could have a Masters or a Doctorate before most people his age have an Associates or a Bachelor's Degree. This is a truely an amazing feat in any regard.
I can't say I didn't expect this because I did. NewsCorp pretty much monopolized the cable television network market. Hulu better come up for a new advertising pitch however since their main draw on all of those commercials was the whole it's free thing.
If a user is doing it's one thing, if it's program it is another. And if this program were to find all compressed files and it would probably come up with a great deal of useless files.
These cops seem extremely lazy we don't want to do our work we want someone to write a computer to do it for us. Even if someone does manage this for them I would be curious to see how an automated usb drive will deal with compressed zip files and encrypted files.

An Anonymous Poster talking about rising up. I am going to do some investigative reporting, expose your true identity and put your plot in jeparody.

At least that Troll comment was deserved.

Someone is just trying to use up their Mod points.

I don't care too much about a over delayed processor, as long as they don't get rid of MySQL or make it a paid service I will be happy.

One of the largest data storage company, EMC, is working on cloud computing just google EMC Atmos.
