I asked them a question through email about why it is that they forbid users to purchase firearms via the service. They said that I needed to be logged in to ask such a question. I responded that if they REALLY needed me to, I'd create a new ID and ask through that one because there was no way in the world I'd let them know what my PayPal ID really was so that they could suspend me for asking too many questions.
In the end I had to create a new ID and trade emails for another month and a half.
The Sky Operating System, or SkyOS, is an operating system written for x86-based personal computers.
While you're correct that there are no easy links to detailed hardware compatibility, this alone should tell you that your G5 can't run it, unless you have Bochs or do they still make Virtual PC?
I'm going with the assumption that you're in the UK.
The UK is ~244,820 sq km in size.
I live in the state of Pennsylvania. 119,283 sq km. The state that I live in is nearly half the size of your entire country. My travel needs are not the same as yours.
Affordable housing isn't usually within walking or bicycling distance of decent employment. We need to drive more often and further than you do. I have never known anyone who was capable of making a 30 mile commute using public transportation.
I pay $2.699 per gallon. It's been less than a decade since prices were $0.939 per gallon. Maybe you're jealous that we pay so much less than you do, but to pretend that a three-fold increase in the price of a necessary commodity is not expensive shows a lack of perspective.
He should start kissing my ass if he wants to presume to tell me what I "should be" donating my spare computing cycles to.
Instead of spending billions of dollars on advertising, Merck, Eli Lily and Pfizer should be buying computing clusters to do their own fucking research. They're the one's who'll get rich(er) off of it.
This asshat really thinks he is taking the moral high ground? Fuck him. It's my computer and it's my decision what I'll do with my spare CPU cycles.
My main linux box is running at 99.7 for Distributed.net but when something else needs CPU time the dnetc process is set for maximum niceness and it gives it up.
What happens when pedophiles learn to tack on an extra kb onto the end of their images and every so often randomly permute that data? The hashes all become worthless.
I too encountered child porn once and there is no way that the stuff will magically transform a normal adult into a minching pedophile. Long story short, in the early 90s I used to use AOL. I used to trade pornographic pictures of adults with other adults. I was 18 and was sick of getting pictures of people's 40-50 something wives so I asked if they had anything of younger women.
POOF, kiddie porn out the wazoo.
It shocks you at first. You're not sure what to think. After about 2 seconds that seem more like 2 weeks you get angry. REALLY ANGRY! I can't speak for anyone else of course, but I'd like to strangle people who make that garbage. What kind of monster can do things like that to children? I'm not talking about statutory rape with a 16 year old girl who looks older. I'm talking about grade-school and younger children.
If you ever give directly to a panhandler, you're not only ignorant, but you're making them stay in my neighborhood because of the easy pickings.
If downtown Pittsburgh, two block from the county courthouse is your neighborhood, you have bigger problems than the homeless guy asking for spare change.
I've given to the homeless. When things are going especially well for me, I'll give more. I heard an idea that I think is fantastic. Some people by gift certificates for restaurants and when a homeless person asks for "money for food" they give the gift certificates. Someone who really just wants to eat with be greatful. Someone who was planning on buying a bottle of hooch, will not be able to get over on you.
Rich people can afford clever accountants to find the means to tuck away hundreds of thousands or millions for trust funds so that their kids never have to worry about whether their card will be declined at the grocery store.
Even the upper middle class can do this. Do you want to know the secret?
Life insurance. It's exempt from taxes. So if you've stocked away several hundred thousand, talk to insurance agents. You can make a deal for a big insurance policy that won't be taxed upon your death. It's not unreasonable to pay the insurance company 25-30% so that the government won't take 50%.
I agree that Amptron is shit. Pure unadulterated moist steaming dung. I have had mixed results with ECS. When I upgraded from a K62-450 to an Athlon XP 1800+, I got an ECS K7S5A and that board worked fine for over three years. It was a little flaky with memory and video card combinations, but it worked fine. Out of the blue the board died. One day the board wouldn't post and the machine wouldn't start. I took that as an opportunity to upgrade I got an XP 2800+ and an ECS N2U400A. That board was sweet. NForce 2 Ultra chipset and fast as ever. That board still works like a champ more than two years later. I have since upgraded to an Athlon 64, but that N2U400A is now in my linux system.
I'm willing to give ECS another chance. The K7S5A that died on me did last a good while and I knew several people who had them and they all had mixed results as well. My next processor upgrade is likely to be a Pentium D and ECS boards for those are pretty reasonable. When I make the purchase, if ECS boards are a part of the best deal I can find, I'll get one and that board will determine if I ever purchase another one of their boards.
Being able to make a good search engine is a skill that only a select few posess. They guys at Yahoo aren't bad. If something like a hostile takeover or merger occurs, how many of them are going to resign within a matter of weeks? I'd venture to say "a lot". People don't like it when established company atmosphere is changed all of a sudden. If Microsoft were to gobble up Yahoo, of course they'd law down a bunch of changes and piss off the best techies. When that happens, Microsoft will have pretty much paid a couple of billion dollars to buy "*.yahoo.com". It's a valuable domain name, but not that valueable.
If those 5000 workers at Sun were so talented, why could they not help Sun go in a direction which created enough value to keep their jobs?
Being a highly skilled worker means NOTHING if you have shitty management. If the boss says "I need you to do XYZ." You do it even if you already know that doing ABC would be more successful.
but I have found that if you respect the police, they will respect you.
You sir, are obviously not a member of a minority group.

Have you ever tried to get a direct answer from PayPal about a policy question?
It literally took me two months of dealing with stock replies to get an answer to why they forbid payment for certain legal items.

You make carbon based energy expensive. It's that simple.
Have you been to a gas pump or paid a natural gas bill in the last three years? That's happening right now!
LK
I'd rather see extra cycles go towards things that...
And you are free to donate yours to them.

No unix/linux clients, but then I don't really want my linux boxes running at 100% anyway.
You do know what "nice" means right?

I looked for the rates of home invasion, which I believe are increasing in Canada and the UK, but could not find them.
The telegraph puts the rate at 50% of burglaries in England being "Hot", meaning that the occupants are at home but in the US it's 10%.
LK
Guns have done nothing to prevent violations of our fundamental rights.
Is voting a fundamental right in your eyes?
It is in mine.
In fact, those who own guns are more likely to let the government get away with worse transgressions.
Those without are powerless to stop it.

Carnegie's charity was never altruistic.
Frick scared the bejesus out of him when he responded to Carnegie's invitation to meet and bury the hatched with "Tell him, I'll meet you in hell."
He was trying to buy his way out of hell because of all of the evil he did when building his empire.
Maybe that's what the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation is all about.

Just that if it fits this shoe, it's quite certainly illegal... kind of like saying you want someone who is/not specific race/disabled/etc.
Many times employers do specifically exclude disabled people. "Job requires the ability to lift 50 pounds 5 feet into the air."
It's perfectly legal to disqualify someone based upon a disability if that disability prevents them from doing the job.

If the choice is that or not working at all do you really need to ask?
