Ok. This is strange. The FIRST post was moderated as "Troll". The SECOND post, complaining about the moderation of the FIRST post, is moderated to "Off Topic". I'm afraid the /. moderators have gotten into Granpa's moonshine stash again. Or perhaps they just scored a really nice big, fat bag of crack.

This book made me change my sig. Damnit. Personally, I don't like my words being published without my knowledge or my consent. Not that I actually had any posts on any of the Hellmouth articles (I didn't), but not having control over my words really bothers me. Ya see, when I post on /., I'm posting on /., not writing copy for someone else's book.

  23. Time to move into the future... on Library Of Congress Will Not Digitize Books · · Score: 2

Hmmm...'arrogant'? Oh well...the government has always been a bit slow to catch up with the technology curve. Give 'em a few years (and perhaps a new librarian) and I think we'll see that opinion change. It's also entirely possible that the LOC can't get the funding for such a project. Can you imagine the amount of $$ that putting ALL of the books in the LOC online? would cost? Even if you only did the copyright-expired books, that would still cost some major funds...

What we REALLY need right now is some REAL intelligence. I mean, sure, it's nice to have "intelligent" machines, but what good does that do when a good size of the population are utter and complete morons? Let's concentrates on making the PEOPLE smarter, then worry about the machines.
