It is important to know how dea scheduling works before making statements like this.

    Schedule I controlled substances

    (A) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.

    (B) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.

    (C) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.

    Schedule II controlled substances

    (A) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.

    (B) The drug or other substance has a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States or a currently accepted medical use with severe restrictions.

    (C) Abuse of the drug or other substances may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.

The difference is schedule II have medical use according to the gov't schedule I have no medical use.

Smoked marajuana has no medical use but Marinol (thc in pill form) is a Schedule III

Cocaine is used medically as a topical anesthetic so it is Schedule II

Crystal meth is used medically as Desoxyn so it is Schedule II

This would be like me getting pissed off at the DMV because I have to get license plates and registration so I can drive my car on the road, even though I have already paid for the car. We are in a world that has things called "user fee's".

And to counter the argument that you would pay for the software if it was available. Then would you expect the state to issue you a license plate and registration card for a Formula-1 car? Just because you are willing to pay doesn't mean you should be able to drive any car you want on the road.

Honestly I believe that apple not releasing specs is a total lie on Be's part they don't want to take the time and money to continue developing BeOS for the PPC as it is too small of a market and they are already struggling to support all the video and nic cards on the x86. The myth about Be not running on G3/G4 chips is compleately untrue. I have a Mac 7500 with a XLR8 g4-350 mhz upgrade card and it runs BeOS 4.5 with no problem what so ever.

Be was just looking for an excuse to end support for ppc platform and it looks like they have found it.

After installing a debian port on a 68k macintosh it would not be hard to make the disk bootable. All you need is a working MacOS system folder burnt on to a cd that has be made as a bootable cd, if you use toast fo the burning this is very simple just check the bootable option. And if you want to compleatly automate the process all you would need to do is put the penguin loader, preferences in the startup folder inside the system folder and have the preferences pointed at the kernal, and bang you hold down 'c' on boot and you are ready to go

You hit the nail on the head. BeOS has a list of about 5 differenc video cards it supposts. And both My beboxes didn't come with a supported card. After running out to walmart and buying a Voodoo 3 I was able to get my x86 going, but I have all but lost hope for my PPC BeBox with and Ati Nexus video card.

I personally take issue with the be having better support for the x86. Once again I should learn that I am living in an Intel world, and I am a PPC girl, or boy rather.

Contrary to what people might think Cloning is not good for apple, this is because first and foremost apple is a Hardware company, not a software company. The whole idea for the clone's was to increase apple's market share, letting them become more like MS, a software company. When the market share didn't improve that much apple bagged the idea. So unless apple make any significant advances in its market share, don't expect any apple clones to be popping up any time soon.

And you know what, I never really saw a huge push at any time with the market going nuts because they could get a multi-processor computer. And you know why, because the average user, the joe that buys a computer really doesn't give a rats ass, or have a need for more than one processor.
