Not just that it will do well, but that its the best solution up and coming. I won't tell you to trust them/us. Do what you like. But I say I trust them. Their support for Linux is great for the community if you ask me.

A lot of people don't seem to give them credit. I support this outright...and hope they release more stuff under a more flexible license like the GPL. I think that every corporation can see the light eventually. Here's to hoping.

(While he had to wait for the next training courses) My uncle said for me to tell my friend just to have a lawyer call them and they will settle. They paid 3/4 of one month salary + lawyer fees for him in the settlement.

I'd tell your friend just to threaten a lawsuit for loss of wages and grief caused by misinformation. They will never win it and probably will just settle.

This doesn't bother me...its actually something I like. I like the fact that no one person's machine is like mine. But the more distributions there are trying to make themselves look unique the less they adhere to certain standards which have developed. Hell..what am I talking about. There aren't any standards. ;-) And here is the beauty of that..

The great thing is that those standards aren't as important if the software is open source. So maybe this lack of standardization is helping bring more companies to look into open sourcing their products...which in turn converts them (because they'd see the obvious beauty in open source immediately if they have half a brain)..Wow...what a thought..more distros bring more variety...more variety brings less standards...less standards help people to see the light!

So come on SCO...anyone else want to start a distribution? This is GREAT! I welcome them all!

Those are the laws that protect us...and our freedom. We are free to do a lot of things. Pirating is illegal. if you want to use software or music that people want you to pay for...then you have to pay for it. That is how they make a living. If you don't like it...write the software or music yourself.

Just because I support Open Source software, does not mean I take everything as free and noone can/should make money for it. At least not for me. That is borderline socialism. I don't think people shouldn't make money for their hard work.

As for music...the honest only time I have ever done much MP3 stuff is to preview music and see if I like it enough to support the author by buying his/her album. Same reason i download evaluations of software before I buy it. This is why, for me, Napster is alright. And this is why I believe it should be legal. I must say I full heartedly agree with this guy. I had a gentleman at redhat named Randy Russel who knew his stuff...at least a good bit more than me. Even better...he knew how to teach. The course was good..although I didn't learn a ton. but without the course as a review of everything I am not sure I would have done as well on the test. And their helpful hints on troubleshooting were excellent...and things I necessarily haven't done in depth.

The other thing I didn't agree with is the RedHat Specificness. Although it was obviously a bit specific...my instructor pointed out the "other" traditional ways to do it...and many times stated a preference to editing files rather than gui tools. the only real redhat specific thing they did was there was no telling you how to build non-rpms....but hey...you have to expect some redhat specificity.

I do agree with this as well. DO NOT BUY THE STUDY GUIDE IF YOU ARE TAKING THE COURSE. There is no need. They are dumb.

The cert ws worth it...it wasn't easy (for the general public) and it will weed out those who do not have linux experience...but for those of us like myself who have been using it exclusively for 2+ yrs...(myself around 6)...it was easy.
