Don't mind the others who are unhappy that you point it out. As mentioned in one of the other replies it's not only a dupe, it's very old. News, my foot.
Hey, with my current partner, her 24-hour record is somewhere around 60 (+/- 5) - I think I have a pretty good idea what it's about. (Maybe I ought to post this anon?)
To me, it's very nice to have seperate sandboxes as we use Wintel boxes for all our operations... It's nice that they do not directly affect each other.
Even though it would be nice with greater interoperability, we use so many different systems anyway (again, too stingy to buy better integrated systems), so I'm Alt+Tabbing to and fro all day anyway. I can copy/paste the most important stuff if needed, so it's no big loss - but that's on our setup.
I've just learned to live with it. Apart from that, my employer is to stingy to use multi-monitor setups for us drones, and apart from that, I don't think most of my colleagues is up to the challenge of wrapping their heads around the concept of using one mouse for two screens.
I habitually log on to at least two RVDs and don't have any problems using them. I'd agree, though, that they are clogging productivity as I am already one of the fastest workers in my department after only 1½ months.
Yeah, my employer doesn't use any local programs for our computers except Outlook and IE... Everything else is handled on Remote Virtual Desktops or through IE (mostly on the RVD, at that).
It's fine by me as it leaves the system ressources free for me to divulge in meaningful activities, like/.
Point and case. If it turns out that there is no real advantage for me in using a commercial program to a free program, why should I then waste my money on the commercial product?
If there is something that I really *have* to use, then I'd consider paying for it... Until then, I'm not paying.
If I was to buy a picture editing program, then I'd probably buy PSP anyway... Cheaper and with most of the functionality. Also, I'd look into the Gimp first, of course (which was indeed what I had in mind when I wrote my post:p ).
It's my work computer, so I haven't dabbled much in *nix on it... Apart from that, I generally stick to Windows these days. I have an honest to god legal version of Windows XP Pro running on it. Knoppix seems to work fine now, but when I'd just bought the computer, it had some ACPI and graphics card problems...
Dishonourable people attack other dishonourable people too, you know...
But yes, human evolution has been the battle to keep the upper hand over other humans... Just like all other evolution. Our ancestors just found a better way of passing on their secrets than animals do.
Exactly... It's like the Asus laptop I bought from a mail order reseller; when I moved last year, my receipts and warranty cards were all lost somewhere in all my papers (that I still haven't sorted), and when I called the reseller, he couldn't find my receipt (though he tried)... Then I called Asus tech support to tell them about my problem (dead hard drive), I just gave him the serial number and they sent a DHL guy the next day. Great service, even if it might cut a little into profits - because I'm going to recommend Asus to everyone I know and will probably buy it again...
If I didn't download Photoshop I'd just have to learn to love a truly free alternative. Most illegal downloads are not used by people who would ever consider buying the software, but they're downloading it just to look at it. I do believe, however, in paying for programs that are truly useful to me and that I would have purchased if not I had had the ability to copy it illegally.
I remember once, when I worked in a hellhole of a computer store, a very shifty customer came to buy a mouse... He said he wanted the best, and he had already signed something using his right hand so I showed him our top-of-the-line five-button Logitech, made for right-handed people.
He then said that he was used to using the mouse in the left hand because "that's what he'd been taught was the smartest to do"...... riiiiight.
Nobody knows, since no one pays for a web browser, regardless of feature-set.
How about no known security flaws, exploits or vulnerabilities? Sounds like a good product to me.
Would this be the... Windows only IE renderer?
I mistyped the URL tag:+ office+site:slashdot.org

That's how hard it is.
It took all of 30s

Better buy spoon guard!
I'd like to know them, but I still have no doubt that she is climaxing. (This is a very odd conversation to have on /. ...)
Reading the summary would have saved that one. The bloody summary! Half a dozen lines! Gah!
I guess it might be generational, as I had to look up 'to kowtow'
Please specify, 100 mph or 100 km/h?
(parent and gp use different speed stocks)
Yeah, the police are to blame for her father using her as a shield.
If not in features, then in sense.

My guess would be other men.
I think you'd be hard-pressed to find an untainted woman in the western world who is old enough to be legal...
I run RVD1 in the top left corner of my screen, notepad in the bottom left and RVD2 in bottom right.
;p
Slashdot in the background...
I'm quite happy, but as I said, for my setup it is very nice. It could be better but it could also be much, much worse...

It's called 'civic duty'. Like paying your taxes and other nutty, communist ideals.
