It is my opinion that the Chrome browser needs work before gaining wide acceptance. Over time, it uses more memory and slows to a crawl. It can not do pass-through authentication and has bugs (like tabs separating suddenly), etc. I use FireFox and OffByOne (when necessary). IE is just a paper weight and Chrome was uninstalled. Opera works good on my smart phone. As to Google pushing their browser with Sony...it is just business. Only people in Redmond should really care or, rather, be concerned.

I inhereted a similar situation I am at. That was back in 2001 and one of the guys they canned before I got here turned the company into BSA and HE was the one installing unlicensed copies. It cost the company a ton of money and cost me a lot of time (nights and weekends) doing a thorough audit of all software. You can get information off of BSA's site (don't go to their site from your work connection...do it from home or the library) and see what the penalties for each infraction. You can then give your boss an estimation of what he could be fined. Additionally, the company's doors can be shut by the authorities until you are in compliance. It can be a nasty thing.
Then get an estimation of what it will cost to get everything licensed so your boss has that information as well.
Then, if he/she doesn't want to license the software then get that letter saying that you will not be held liable for the illegal software. Then you let them know that you will not personally install any illegal software because it is a crime. It is and you shouldn't. I had to do this.
At that point you may want to start looking for another company to work for.

Ireland's economy is in full collapse mode. And if you don't like our health care system, just wait until the government is running it. It will be a nightmare. Our system is that you work, you pay for health care and you get it. It is not a RIGHT.

Just raise the minimum surfing age to 18. That is just as good as most the other cockamanie laws the government comes up with. Is that how you spell cockamanie?
Why the heck would they put the U.N. in charge of anything important. When they are able to properly hand out food, we can let move up to something more important, but I'd never put them in charge of anything having to do with security...real security.
