I suppose when you are bored on Slashdot, instead of trolling, one could read about them?

    It's a pretty thorough summary.

    Maybe this from here?

" OMFG have you seen the Halo 2 trailer it's like slow and it's telling you all the stuff you did in the first one then the music kicks in and and the chief comes out and gets a gun the earf is on fire and chief is like fuck this im jumping and HE JUMPS PUT OF TEH SPACESHIP with angels singing and he lands on the bad guys and that annoying ai lady is like GO GET EM TIGER! WILDCAT IS ON TEH SPOKE!!!~`1 and theres less polys but rawkin bumb mappings you can view this on a special MICROSOFT xbox disk that comes with EB games store.

I used to troll slashdot, when I actually had free time in the office, and one of my last was the above... which I wrote right after I saw the Halo 2 trailer. After I posted it, I took to leaving "WILDCAT IS ON TEH SPOKE" as a little "Jeff was here" (not on slashdot, as I just don't have the time anymore). However, someone who I pester with said phrase on a regular basis was kind enough to point out to me that I might have a little meme going."

The line between being able to trace crooks and being able to maintain your privacy has always been small. You know what to do if you want privacy, and everyone else should not ever assume they are private just because noone else is in their lounge room.

This is a valuable education, and it will help the regular user understand how unprivate their internet communications are.

No-one loses here. What's the story?

When you become so powerful (either yourself, or in a group) that people beat a path to your door, you cannot be the nice guy you used to be to everyone. Someone's going to be treated in a way they find offensive, and bitch about it. As a life experiment, I highly recommend you try being very popular, and then see how you start to drop off the people around you that are high maintenance, and then the people that weren't that bad, but don't float your boat, and then your friends, to be left spending time with the people that have trapped you into needing them to maintain your power/popularity/money.

I used to be critical of the Australian (mine) system of preferential voting until I saw in the states that (arguably) when there are two parties with a stance on similar issues, they take votes away from each other.

I think the Australian system would be better if they did not make voting compulsory, or allowed you to opt-out of the run-off vote. That would both eliminate the annoyance of having your vote run off to a party you don't like, and also enable Australians to make a general vote of no confidence in the two major parties.
