    The thing that really bugs me the most about this is, they don't have to make counterfeit chips to sell them, if they simply made another chip that used an ssop-24 or whatever standard case the FTDI ones use, and made it pin compatible, but released it under their own name, people would still buy them, most people buying cheap chips from china know they're not getting an ftdi chip, they don't really care they want something so they can build to a price and include X functionality.

    If the silicon itself is a unique design (and i'm not saying it is) then they would be totally above board..

    believe it or not Canada has in the past in many situations had laws that differ from the united states, and in those situations most of the time the american companies have decided to continue to follow our laws.

    You'd be surprised many of your international corporations adhere to even stranger laws in other countries.

    I think the big difference is netflix uses bought licensed content and a subscription model which makes it compete with what is currently accepted as broadcasters.

    i don't think the rules should apply to youtube or other distributors of self published content. Think of the reprocussions of regulating content sites like youtube would be far reaching and devastating, the porn industry would be figuratively fucked for a change.

    Project A: Project to help anyone learn a certain skill set and better themselves
    Project B: Project to help men transition into primarily female dominated career paths
    Project C: Project to help women transition into primarily male dominated feidls

    Here's how this plays out:

    Project A: gets lots of applications from all walks of life and helps everyone interested until they run out of funding.
    Project B: gets many male applicants, project goes smoothly, a female applicant is denied, then launches a law suite for discrimination project B dies because the life blood was sucked out of it by an unhappy woman
    Project C: helps many women, no men try to apply and even if they do they simply accept they're not invited to this party, then it continues much like project A
