I wasn't there in '85, but did suffer through the air-conditioning-free '87 version. Went as just a spectator, but got roped into manning the booth for our user group (Washington Apple Pi, one of the few classics still in existence). We were all the way on one end of the convention center, and the only properly functioning air conditioning was on the other end. Oy.
Sat through a demo of Word Perfect for the Mac. Yes, in 1987. What year was that thing finally released? The demo was a disaster, so the rep smoothed things over a bit by handing out free painter's caps with the Word Perfect logo. My dad still mows the lawn while wearing that cap!
The WAP booth was right next to Hayden Software, which was demoing MusicWorks. The same music loop played over and over and over again... drove me batty.
I can't remember if Wingz was shown there, or if it debuted a bit later. You remember Wingz, don't you? Great tote bags, lots of enthusiasm, pure vaporware...
The short he has in mind is "Circus On Ice", which softened up one's brain for the feature presentation of "Monster A Go-Go". "Snow Thrills" had all the other winter sports.
Oh, if only the Coleman Francis trilogy would come out on DVD. Such mastery of the cinema is a rare talent to be admired...
"This movie stops at nothing - and stays there."
I'd also love to see "Racket Girls". I talked my husband into watching it. He still hasn't forgiven me.
I read an article some months ago that mentioned how the residents of a small village were highly amused at two rather confused visitors - Michael Palin and Terry Jones. They were there, complete with camera crew, attempting to film at one of the sites used in Holy Grail (cave of the killer rabbit, I think). Problem was, they couldn't remember where it was.
The article did mention this was for a new DVD release of Holy Grail, so expect some good "making of" commentary!

Your wish has already come true, you just can't see it on the Food Network yet.
Iron Chef Chinese (Chin) battled Paul Indragori in Battle Fugu. The episode first aired in 1993, so it's among the shows that's yet to be translated.
Pity it wasn't Sakai. Mmmmm, fugu ice cream!
