Paul Steed Interview

You don't like it, don't play it. You don't want your kids playing it, don't let them. You don't want to read the interview, don't read it. Educate your kids about violence, don't try to censor others. Be proactive, not reactive.
Unfortunately, they are not a commerical interest (like Mattel) so it is harder to threaten them with anything that they care about (like taking your money elsewhere).
Threaten them with mass advertising of meat products and products that were tested on animals. Tell them you're gonna help one of the posters near the top organize a massive BBQ in protest of it. Give em hell.
Even if he does do some work, exactly how important can it be, given that he his expertise is in investing, and he's only going to be up there for a week.
In the article it says:
"The president of MirCorp, the commercial company that now operates Mir, told BBC News Online that the businessman is Dennis Tito, 59, a former scientist at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory."
He's a former scientist at JPL so investing is probably not his only field of expertise.
Again an example of how pathetic Slashdot can be. Put the words "open" and "source" into something and Slashdot will jump right on it. Gee guys, we're not trend followers in the least...
Heh, the source isn't even availible yet for this product.
If people have a problem with a law and it is not taking away from any basic natural rights, they should take the law to the highest court possible to try and get it changed.
In other words, if the law possibly threatens your life, break it, else take it to a higher power in efforts to get it changed.
Don't just go and break a law because you don't like it, people won't listen to you because you're considered a criminal the second you break it. Make a case and present it. (Maybe groups like greenpeace could take this advice, rather than chaining themselves to a tree, for once they could try to sit down with the other party and discuss it intelligently.)
I don't see the controversy in this. Turning in kids that might be potentially dangerous (who hadn't yet committed a crime) is quite different from turning in spammers who have committed a crime (forgery (in this case, attempting to falsify the origins of an email) is a crime).
How to pick this up in a positive way? Develop a highlevel, crossplatform gaming API that does not force game developers to reinvent the wheel. Apparently such a library is lacking on both the mac and linux.
I believe this is what SDL is trying to do. It was successfully employed in the linux port of "Civilization: Call To Power."
As far as I know the exectuables and the qwprogs.dat progs.dat files are free software / open source but I think that the "registered" pak files are commercial and not availible freely. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Sorry, I meant to say weapons grade plutonium. They didn't ship the whole warhead with detonator and all. Just to clarify and prevent myself from getting flamed.
A very good point. I was particularily upset at the ignorance of the public when people were up in arms about the US shipping Nuclear Weapons up here (Canada) for disarmament at the end of last year. I was quite pleased to see that they flew it in with a helicopter, hehe, stupid people on the ground with their roadblocks.:)
Processor companies keep cranking out faster and faster processors but its getting to the point where it'll start bottlenecking. Yes RAM and storage devices are getting faster, but not at the same rate as processors.
Anyways, I'd buy an Athalon just because its that much cheaper for what you get.
...the time I was looking through the file command.com (from Dos 6.22 if I can remember correctly). During my adventure I found some strings containing the names of some food (I think one of them said "apple pie" or something). Just the programmers having some fun I guess, though its not the most professional way to do things.
I wonder if there really is a back door or if Microsoft is trying to cover their ass from other companies possibly calling this slander or some such nonsense. Something like this could possibly give the government more ammunition to fire at MS in their ongoing legal battles, pressuring them to open up their code so that futher happenings would be prevented.
Okay, do these spammers not realize that they are hurting their reputation more than they are promoting it by sending so many unsolicited emails? I mean if I were to get an email advertising something I had some interest in but they constantly sent unsolicited emails I would get more annoyed with them than anything. And now spam to wireless email services. Doesn't that cost alot for the wireless subscriber? Oh well...
This seems to be a very interesting and very promising technology, but I have two concerns.
1) What would happen if an epidemic of a virus or bacteria arose that killed these algae? Does this mean that a nation/region could be without power because of a disease?
2) This looks like a very clean fuel. Does anyone think that Nuclear Fusion research will continue to recieve the same amount of funding or do you people think they will cut back on it? After all, algae farms wouldn't do much good for a spacefaring craft in vacuum at low temperatures.
Otherwise, looks like a really promising and interesting technology.

Now I'll stop getting 10-13 year olds adding me to their contact list for no reason and then never messaging me.
Okay, good enough answer. :)
Yeah but how come the price didn't go up in other parts of the country?

Unfortunately we can't say much about your education system since your spelling sucks. :)

Okay, IANAL, but isn't a "cease and desist order different" from being sued? If not, sorry for wasting your time.
Its a different logo if you look at it a little more closely.
All the Mac mice I have used work fine (with the exception of the iMac puck mouse, if I wanted puck I would have asked for hockey).
Do we really need a "squeezable" mouse? If they're gonna do that, at least make it squeak or something when you squeeze it.

Why is this here?

Make a modified ext2 filesystem using some form of compression and build it as a kernel module. That'd be cool and probably not all that hard to do.

Next thing you know they'll release a game called Pocket Monsters and get into trademark violations with Pokemon.

WIMPs

Weakly Interacting Massive Particles
I love how they come up with these acronyms.
I don't mean to be an ass or anything but wouldn't they just block sites like Slashdot, etc if they started doing this?
