This is just another example of the "government bad! open source good!" biased crap that is spewed from the Slashdot community. As has already been said by many posters on here, they (immigrants) knew the visa was only temporary and lasts 6 years.
Its time for you hippies on Slashdot to grow up and realize that these people were bound to a contract (yes the visa) that they must honor.
Would this mean that a battery of fuel cells would be more efficient than a power plant? Why not start converting natural gas power plants to batteries of fuel cells then?
A trade organization or a full fledged union. Get a union of musicians going on strike and there wouldn't be very many new albums coming out for the record industries.
If they form a union better start talking about contract renegotiations too, some of those contracts are such crap and I don't know why anyone signs (I guess its the easiest way to get the music "out there") any of these restrictive contracts with the record companies.
Oh, but they'll have little "challenges" like who can stay in a vaccuum without a spacesuit for the longest and who can climb the scaffolding of the launch tower to collect the most medallions with their number on it. Afterwards they'll preceed to mission control with their spacesuit helmets and vote someone off the training and they'll be forced to leave the training facilities only to stay in the five star hotel they are staying in anyways for the filming of the show.
Okay, am I the only one that thought the show Survivor sucked?
What about using some sort of radio transmission for distributing your source? Like some sort of network of home made radio repeaters spreading the word or something. That way you're able to bypass two main logging mechanisms, the phone company and the ISP.
Just cause parents aren't doing their jobs doesn't mean that a large corporation/government should be doing it for them. Come on! You parents of America need to stop spending so much time bitching about violence in games and start spending more time actually raising and eductaing your kids properly. The ignorance of them all!!
Yeah it really is puzzling how an extremely interesting and relatively important article on progress in the the field of nuclear fusion research doesn't make it to the main page, but an article about a kids cartoon with relatively simplistic animation techniques does.
I'm glad their priorities are straight and that this site is living up to its "News for Nerds. Stuff that matters." slogan.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. These so called "experts" like to write articles saying something blatant and rash and usually the only evidence they come up with to support their thesis is their own arrogance and what their crystal ball said or something.
Well seeing as the most naturally occuring isotope of Uranium, U238 has a half life of 4.47 Billion years, I can't see it causing that much trouble (radioactively).
It'd be nice if the power for the hard drive was supplied through the IDE cable/interface as well cause its really annoying to have less drive power connectors in a case than you have drives for.
Assoc Prof Chid Laowattana, of the Thon Buri campus, said this could be developed into a simulator to train people in areas like surgery.
Well yeah, I guess they could be training people for surgery when it malfunctions and shoots its owner. Just rush the patient with the gunshot wound to the college hospital and let them train away...
You just had to bring Napster into this didn't you... ;)
I just don't think there should be "one standard".
Uhhh, isn't that what standards are for? So that people don't have to learn all kinds of propriety systems?

So go smoke another one Hemos.
To me this "letter" sounds very similar to the book "Anthem" by Ayn Rand. (without all the "we" and "they").
I think it might be the style of writing and the blissfully oppressed atmosphere.

Oh well thats just my little rant.
NES? Thats the new video gaming system from that company Nintedo right?
I hear its supposed to blow the Atari 2600 and Colecovision right out of the water!
Thats just what I was thinking about when I read about this.
:)
Ya beat me to it.

I'm not from the US jackass.

So they're going to send each bit up like a little piece of grain? :)
How is packet loss with a system like this?

Get thrown from the olympics to where? That could really hurt if there wasn't proper protection to break their fall.
I don't know much myself.. but I think it depends on more the SPEED and SIZE than just plain ol' size.
;)
So it is more than just size that matters.
You forgot "Open Source" in one of the parent posts. :)
They'd probably sue to have the time capsule destroyed cause its a violation of copyright.

... if the defense department is helping to fund this. Could be useful technology for possible space bourne laser missile defense systems?
With a few cosmetic modifications we can have the same cool shades that Cyclops from the X-Men had.
:)
Now that'd be worth paying ~$500 for!
