For starters - color coded nonsense? Wake up people. 1 in 4 males are at LEAST a LITTLE BIT color blind. Pink boxes? Lovely, some politically correct twit with a feminist side wants pink boxes, among other things, displayed on their windshields. No problem here - IÂll simply never see that lovely gay box at all. Stick some lavender, some violet, purple, beige, and all the other colors that make women feel good up there. At BEST, they will merely cloud my vision of the highway.
Oh yeah. Old folks. Uhhh, has anyone looked at statistics for fatal accidents for the differening age groups? IÂm not very worried about aging drivers. They tend to slow down anyway, with or without technological assistance.
I am more worried about younger drivers, but drivers of ALL ages tend to drive to fast in vehicles that are quiet, comfortable, smoother riding, and ÂsafeÂ. When people are insulated from the outside world, and they have faith in the Âsafety of their vehicle, they WILL drive faster.
Instead, strip the vehicles down, make sure people experience the ride, and they will tend to slow down. Take away some of the existing Âsafety features, eliminate all the computerized nonsense, and work to decrease peopleÂs comfort. They will slow down, and pay more attention to the road. Most of all, remove distractions, such as on screen GPS navigation, cell phones, laptops, etc etc etc.
Gotta love the do-gooders, though. They are really concerned about my safety. I just wish they would stay home and think about my safety. They have no business making corporate or government decisions that involve my safety.
Non Disclosure Agreement?
I have no respect for such things. Not even my employer has any right to demand that I keep a secret - especially if one day I might be in court to testify about something that happened in the workplace.
Phhht. NDA is meaningless.
but there are so many free games, I simply cannot see the point in PAYING for games. There are free-to-play internet games. There are open source games. There is abandonware. Games, games, games. I could sit down and play a different game each day for MONTHS, all free, and not come back to the same game. So many free games to choose from.....
What, exactly, do the game software people offer us?
Well - for the latest game to run on my computer, I will have to replace my video card, if I want the full video effects. And, if I'm going to do that, I might as well upgrade the CPU. Ooops, the newest CPU will require a MOBO, and I might as well add some extra memory.
Might as well just buy a new computer, huh?
Oh, wait, I've fallen into the trap!! The games become more and more demanding of high-end hardware, and like a lemming, I just HAVE to have the latest game, which forces me to buy a new computer almost every year.
IMHO, it's just a stupid fad that has hung on to long already. If/when the games makers come up with something new and different, I may take a look at it.
Til then, I'll play free games.
Actually, though, most of my gaming is online, and I have upgraded my accounts to paid accounts. The graphics may be nothing to brag about, but I play against real people, where intelligence is required, as opposed to fast reflexes, luck, or whatever else one may need to beat a "computer" game.
I will also note, that one of man's greatest inventions is pretty much wasted, if all that it is used for is gaming........
Download BOINC, and put your machine to work, searching for cures for diseases, huh?

No science fiction fan can possibly miss out on Isaac Asimov, or Arthur C. Clark.
Both men are rather dated, or even antiquated, now. But, both of those men were real scientists, who wrote stories around their best understanding of science, at the time they wrote the stories.
Further, both men wrote stories that reflected Sci-Fi's core theme: "What if........?"
Sci-fi isn't just entertainment. In fact, the action movies and television shows that everyone refers to as "sci-fi" are simply garbage.
Sci-fi is entertaining, while educational. Sci-fi expands the mind, without relying on illegal chemicals.
Asimov and Clark remain the giants in Science Fiction, and they probably will remain so for some time to come. ANYTHING with their names on it is good reading.
