    VLC has a real audio compressor plugin. No longer am I subjected to whisper quiet dialog and action scenes that cause hearing damage. No compression is not the same as normalizing either. Loud passages are toned down and quiet ones are amplified, like how movies used to be.

    Maybe because the original intent of cable tv was you paid a subscription which pays for the shows. No advertisements needed. The big networks still broadcast over the air for free. If you bring in advertising then you clearly don't need my subscription costs.

    That's how the pay scale works in Pittsburgh. They pay you just enough to keep you there. If they paid anymore you would have the means to leave the city and get a better paying job.

    FX!32 ran programs at about 66% of their normal speeds. It wasn't that bad. They bothered because there wasn't any native Alpha NT programs at the time.

    Oh I have nothing against FVWM. My point was 20 years later Microsoft is pushing a UI design that looks extremely dated.

    You have maybe three kinds of hammers. Standard claw hammer for nailing, A sledgehammer with two blunt faces, and a ball peen hammer to concentrate the force. A quick check on Wikipedia shows a claw hammer design from the 16th century that looks exactly like a hammer made today. What does color have to do with it?

    It still looks like flat Windows 8 icons. What am I supposed to be seeing? Looks about as good as FVWM did in the 90s.

    Change for the sake of change. Programmers can't grasp the fact that maybe there is an ultimate end design. A hammer made today still looks like a hammer from a century ago. There is a reason for that.

    Nobody is saying to cut funding to infrastructure that keeps the country running. My point is the government spends money totally unchecked. Cut all the waste and paper pushers who do nothing. I bet you could lay off half the federal government and nobody would even notice.

    Try and find a new computer with Windows 7 installed. There aren't many. I'm not even sure if the big names still offer the "downgrade".
