    Once in a while I check Tom's Hardware for the video card roundups and they all seem priced accordingly. There is no longer a "best bang for you buck" card. A $70 Nvidia cards performs as well as a $70 AMD card.

    Your comment made me laugh pretty good. I imagine some old lady firing up Candy Crush and suddenly all the displays in the cockpit show a frown face and the plane nosedives. Until someone has evidence of these devices causing interference I call the whole thing voodoo. How do cell millions of cell phones with a built in GPS receiver not interfere with each other?

    I have a beaglebone black and it does all that by itself. Tons of GPIO, PWM, 8 ADC inputs, plus it can bit bang all the usual serial bus stuff.

    The people in charge of that are so out of touch they should be committed in a mental hospital. It wasn't that long ago they finally supported partitions bigger than 2GB, yes two GigaBytes. Think about that fact while you also learn that RMS uses an old terminal or some such nonsense along with a script to gather Google searches and email the text to him. He lacks a graphical interface.

    I suspect a wrong refresh rate killing a CRT is an urban myth. Even the cheapest monitors that supported power saving simply shut off if they encountered something they couldn't handle. *Maybe* it would have been possible in the early days of fixed refresh rates and resolutions but I'm still skeptical. Who would even sell something so easily damaged?

    You're impeding the flow of traffic for not paying attention to traffic lights. I have absolutely no problem with this. Your text can wait a few minutes until you find a parking lot or your destination. Most people are barely capable of operating their vehicles without distractions as it is. Anytime you are not paying attention to traffic conditions you are creating a safety hazard.

    The auto resize feature was one of the first things I turned off in Windows 7. I really don't care much for the search feature in the start menu either. After a few years its gotten unreasonably slow. Tons of people go about their daily activities and don't need 8GB of memory. Chances are if you're running XP era hardware you won't be able to fit over 4GB physically on the motherboard.

    Can you elaborate on the "buggy as hell next to a modern OS" statement?

    It teaches them to sit down and pay attention to things. In school is it appropriate to constantly be on your phone while trying to participate in class? How about later on when they are working at a job? Are you saying a cell phone is required to interact with your world? Sounds like your iWorld is pretty shitty.

    I like listening to Howard Stern. I like having the variety of a hundred different channels without commercials. I like the comedy channel. I don't have to worry if the area I'm driving in has cell reception or getting a $10k bill for streaming in Canada. I have a bunch of mp3s but honestly how many times can you hear them before getting tired. Stop being trendy or obtuse. Every car rolling off the assembly line still has an AM/FM radio, and will for some time. I guarantee companies wouldn't go to the trouble of making them if people didn't demand them.

    Back before I bought satellite radio for both my vehicles I used to listen to regular radio and it was awful. Every new band they played followed the exact same format. They had one or two singles and then a ballad or much lighter song would get played. Then another single that was not as successful as the first and then they'd disappear.

    Agreed. They all probably burn out quickly and settle into something mundane. Same goes for all these breakthroughs that are written about. How long have we been hearing about 3 dimensional data storage?
