    Its about sending a message. I am completely competent in my driving abilities. That said, I do not want to die in a collision because some self absorbed cunt insists on texting while driving. Same goes for drunk drivers. Drunks rarely kill themselves when they wreck.

    Its the RTL-SDR project. A Linux developer discovered that a digital TV receiver chip made by Realtek (used in $15 dongles) had the ability to receive the raw sampled RF data. The bandwidth is nearly 3Mhz so that means you can view a HUGE chunk of the RF spectrum at once and decode the signals via software. AM/FM/USB/LSB you name it. Dongles based on the R820T tuner receiver from 22Mhz to 1600Mhz! Pipe the output into some digital speech decoder programs and you have a police scanner that would normal cost hundreds of dollars.

    You're stuck in a 20 year time warp my friend. HDMI has been the standard video transport method for a long time. If you need to interface your board to 5V logic then use one of the many cheap level converters out there. Most 5v logic will probably run at 3.3v anyhow these days.

    The config files in Slackware are pretty straightforward. These days its near impossible to set up a Ubuntu or Debian install via the command line. Nothing but a pile of scripts that call for more scripts. When something doesn't work you can't even look in the logs because its not reported.
