    Then by accident I found the rtl-sdr software radio project. Long story short is that a $20 USB dongle designed for receiving digital TV can also be used as a wideband receiver from 64Mhz to over 1.6GHz. Yes it works on Linux too.

    Google "rtl sdr" for info about the $20 USB dongles that can tune anything from 64Mhz to 1.6Ghz.

    The only credible bomb threats I can recall were the ones done by the IRA in the 80s. What is the point of planting a bomb and then telling everyone about it? What a real terrorist would do is call in a threat and have a bomb planted at the evacuation point.

    The courts have ruled several times that the police are under no obligation to protect you from anyone.

    In a few months that young idealistic officer will be tasing the elderly/children and lying through his teeth while under oath in court.

    But the sellers have sold out days ago along with all the other retailers. Looks like one is left and they ship direct from Hong Kong so expect a few weeks wait. I'm kinda pissed about only finding out now.

    I've been toying with the idea of getting an entry level SDR for a while just to see what all is out there on the airwaves. This USB tuner chip appears to do the same thing as the $100+ Funcube Dongle.

    Maybe because the law says mail order purchases to out of state companies are tax exempt? iTunes is owned by Apple who are based out of California.

    How about instead of finding new things to tax, the government spend more responsibly? Every week I have to do more with less. Why does this all powerful entity funded by ME not have to follow the same rules?

    I seriously doubt the fire/police/road departments will be disbanded because of a lack of funds.

    If you haven't already watched this special then I urge you to do so at once. James May is given the opportunity to take a ride in a U-2 and films the entire thing. The video is incredible. They are flying on the edge of the atmosphere and when he looks up its just black space. Looking out you can see the curvature of the earth and its blue atmosphere. The sight is so awe inspiring that James starts to get emotional.

    All they do is get you past HR filters. Most people who are good at their jobs also do them as a hobby or have a genuine interest. Although it doesn't help either when you have $100k in loans and employers offer you $12/hr jobs.
