Fred was looking for not only offers of money but 'plans' for what the people who wanted the domain wanted to use the site for. What I'd like to know is what MS submitted as their plan for the site? A mirror of www.fud.com?;) Who knows, if anyone has Fred's email address I think they should ask him, I'd really like to know.
The whole movement is about CHOICE. I don't want one or two really good Linux distributions. I would much rather see sixteen different distributions of varying quality. Because when one or two people get the power, the people get SCREWED because they might go off in a direction that might not be best for everyone. Right now, almost anyone can find a distro that's best for them. There might be a distro out there that you hate, but it's absolutely perfect for english speaking people in the Czech Republic who like the colour orange.. hell.. I dunno. The idea though is to give us the choice to pick what we want. Another good thing about this is the very name 'Corel'. I know suits who would be far more likely to buy something from Corel than something from a bunch of schmoes who call themselves Debian. Debian? Who the hell is Debian? While the hackers can overlook name recognition to go for a good product, their bosses can't sometimes.
It says in the 'future release' type section of their plans that 2.2.1 source is included although the distro is based around 2.0.36. Is anyone using a pre-copy, and what needs to be done to fully upgrade to 2.2 (and to upgrade to glibc 2.1 whenever it is rereleased?)
Completely true.. Still though, the fact that they've run Linux on it is a bonus for us (us being the Linux geekies out there).. I really would like to see more serious specs on this thing, and if they DO intend to ever build it (or if anyone intends to ever build it) what the plans are for an accompanying chipset? A processor alone doesn't make a system, and if it's all that fast the chipset and memory interface (and perhaps even memory?) to go with it will need to be created too..
Proxim's rangelan/2 isn't supported by Linux. In fact, Proxim won't disclose a damn thing about the cards -- My University uses it for the wireless network here and is giving up on them for Lucent WaveLAN for many reasons, Linux compatibility being a major issue. I've emailed them many times about getting specs, with only requests for $20,000 for their source and an NDA for my troubles.
It seems to me that if it encrypts in 1/30th the time (although THAT part of the story reeks of male cow excrement), it would take 1/30th of the time to crack it using a brute-force technique? Anyway, until I see the algorithm, I aint gonna use it:)
I'm considering applying for one to study wearables, mainly image recognition and memory, visual, and hearing enhancement. I couldn't afford the equip w/o a grant.
I have a full tower sitting on my desk at school. The cover is off. It's solid steel, some ungodly number of drive bays, cords and cables hanging out all over.
I think its a work of art. iMacs look cheesy, in my mind..

*laugh* these people are sick and twisted ;) Who started the 'dance' thing anyway?

I'd think that we can push socket7 to at least 600
