Joe Barton, on the House Energy and Commerce Committee? Actually apologized to BP a few days ago for them having to pay for the damage they caused?

That is NOT what happened. I don't think anyone, including Joe Barton, thinks that BP should not pay for the mess thy have made. The apology was for the methods used by the administration to basically force BP to set up a $20B fund, completely bypassing due process. To be clear, I believe that BP should pay for everything but I question I question the viability of forcing BP to liquidate assets and set aside $20B - even big evil oil companies need operating revenue. Don't forget that a log of British citizens stand to lose a large chunk of their retirement if BP goes belly up.

That is such a ridiculous, absurd comparison that I don't even know where to begin.

When people compare things like this to slavery and Nazism, they either look like idiots, or if taken seriously degrade what happened during those events.

I am unaware of any books that were offered up by their fellow books as a slave, transported to another country, and forced to perform menial services against their will.

Are there issues with copyright laws that need fixing? Absolutely. Do the things that are wrong with copyright law rise to the level of enslaving a race of people?

There are many lows on the internet and this doesn't come close. The prosecution in this case chose to pursue the death penalty in light of the crime committed, the jury found him guilty and found the death penalty appropriate. The AG is doing his job, and while this might seem sensationalistic, I'd rather the officials in my particular state be as open as possible using all available avenues of communication, although I personally do not use twitter.

The primary reason this case is so sensational is that he was killed by a firing squad. Remember that he chose that particular method, not the state.

Trojans for Macs are really no different than any other OS. It just takes a bit of social engineering or something like that, because a trojan, unlike a virus, requires the user to install it. When you install something on a Mac (and windows depending on your settings) you need to type in a password and specifically give permissions to do so. Mac trojans and assorted malware have been around for awhile. What I'm not aware of are any successful Mac OS viruses in the wild, i.e. a "drive-by" infection: getting infected simply by opening an e-mail or a web page.

The term "macroevolution" frequently arises within the context of the evolution/creation debate, usually used by creationists alleging a significant difference between the evolutionary changes observed in field and laboratory studies and the larger scale macroevolutionary changes that scientists believe to have taken thousands or millions of years to occur. They may accept that evolutionary change is possible within species ("microevolution"), but deny that one species can evolve into another ("macroevolution"). Contrary to this belief among the anti-evolution movement proponents, evolution of life forms beyond the species level ("macroevolution", i.e. speciation in a specific case) has indeed been observed multiple times under both controlled laboratory conditions and in nature.

Creationism and Intelligent Design are not science. By your logic gravity is also "only a theory". I invite you to step off the roof, because being only a theory, gravity might not affect you.
