"didn't have the resources to enter the extremely competitive area of smartphones" ??? The HP IPAQ smartphones had more features and more capability in 2003 than the so called 'invention of the year' iPhone when it was launched in 2006. I hope HP kicks Apples ass.

Windows XP needs RAID drivers and I can only get them loaded via floppy. Honestly, I have never researched alternate methods for loading drivers at the Windows XP install. Is there a better way?

  4. Re:The reality is... on Review of HTC Desire As Alternative To iPhone · · Score: 1

I agree... when the iPhone was named "invention of the year" it was agonizing to me too. The iPhone did little to inovate the mobile phone world. Other pdas had touch screens YEARS before the iPhone launched. Other PDAs had access to file systems, built in flashes, could send an MMS, built in exchange functionality, and could multitask processes. The iPhone did none of this at the time. People that believe they need to find an "iPhone killer" have obviously never had a real phone/pda combination. The iPhone is nothing more than an entry level PDA... NOTHING. Apple took a device that is simple to use (cause it lacks metric tons of features) and combined it with brilliant marketing to produce the firestorm of desire over this shiny black object that exists today. To me, the iPhone is nothing more than what AOL was years ago. AOL became the defacto ISP because it was EASY & SIMPLE. It integrated email, messaging and bla bla all into one application. It kept people stupid, AOL kept people from learning the values of the REAL internet. The iPhone is the same thing. "iPhone killers" have existed YEARS before the iPhone was even thought of. People need to take the iPhone marketing nipple out of their mouth and open their eyes. Even what it comes to the iPad... "iPad killers" have already existed for years... like the HTC Shift. Open your eyes.

Exactly! A movie trailer is a 30second to 2 1/2 minute DEMONSTRATION of the movie they want you to pay for. Without free game demos I would stop buying games. I've been ripped off too many times by pretty pictures on a box only to find out they werent representative of actual game play. Now they want to rip me off for a demo BEFORE they rip me off for a POS game? LOL.

Can we rename slashdot to appledot? Do a search for apple. There is an article about apple or the ipad or some icrap at least every day or sometimes multiple articles per day for the last week or more. Ridiculous! Go ahead, comment away about my negativity. There must be somebody out there that feels the same way?

Yea no shit... the title of this article should read "How WEB DEVELOPERS are already reshaping the internet" I've been building my websites for YEARS without flash. Now apple comes along with another crippled entry level product and takes credit for my years of good prudence?

  8. Resistance Of Change on What Is Holding Back the Paperless Office? · · Score: 5, Funny

I work in an office with 200+ cubes. We have all the latest office productivity tools. 99% of the employees have 10-30 yellow stickys stuck all over their desk for reminders. People seem somehow amazed and awestruck by my clean and streamlined desk that is clutter free and yellow sticky free. Sometimes people are even brave enough to ask "how do you do it? How do you work without... stickys??!!". I tell them about this technological miracle that was recently invented (years ago) called Outlook. Features include calendar with reminders and even... a task list! Amazed... my coworkers usually run back to their desk to place another yellow sticky on top of a recently expiring yellow sticky, that says "reminder, learn about outlook tool". I feel like I'm surrounded by spear-chuckers
