Kudos for the explanation, this is why I still come to slashdot.
I haven't spent much time looking, so this was the best I could find:
Dell also said accuracy will depend on how far away the object is. From 3 feet to 15 feet, it’s about 98 percent accurate. And from 15 feet to 20 feet its 90 to 93 percent. Beyond 20 feet, it’s too far away to be accurate at all.
The product page doesn't really make this clear at all, the only distance it ever metions is up to 30M and that's in relation to changing the focus.
I'm surprised they made it such a big feature given how limited it is. Might as well just estimate the distances yourself.
If you watch the video review in the article, the gallery app has a measuring tool. The reviewer measures the height of the Golden Gate Bridge, oddly enough doesn't pick up on the fact that the app has claimed the bridge is 37ft tall.
According the google the bridge is 220ft. I'm not sure who should be more embarrassed Intel or the reviewer.
You're kidding me! I was hoping the windows 7 style network chooser would be back. I mean windows knows that you're in desktop when you click mode so why show the ugly metro interface. It boggles my mind, how this kind of inconsistency can be overlooked, in 8.1 the rest of the icons still show the windows 7 style overlays why is the networks any different..
Youtube has come a long way recently in terms of production value some channels host shows that even surpass TV shows in terms of quality such as VGHS https://www.youtube.com/show/v... or even full length movies such as Ashens and the Quest for the game child https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Users like TotalBiscuit regularly provide high quality coverage of video games, so depending on your interests, there are defiantly videos worth paying to watch, obviously depending on prices. It would have to be pretty low to be justifiable though, a TV licence in the UK is just over £12 a month which funds multiple add free channels with for the most part high quality content.
Divide the moon up into N Billion equal pieces, and give each person on the planet an equal share. Then Bigelow can buy his land on the free market. Oh wait, that's not what he wants. He wants the moon carved up and given to the wealthiest people to make them even wealthier, backed by the world military to make sure that the poor get nothing out of it. Ah, capitalism. How you solve all the world's problems.
Then all he has to do is go to a poor country, where he can buy it all up for next to nothing anyway as no one is going to turn down money for land on the moon if you can't afford to eat.
Since I started using the internet Google was my home page, then I started using iGoogle (I came to this article from an RSS feed on iGoogle). When its shut I will be switching to http://www.netvibes.com/ .
One thing that does make Google stand out is the fact that they make it really easy for you to download your data and I was able to get all my feeds into netvibes with just a couple of clicks.
In the long term I think it will be worth it. Skype is a household name and is almost a verb for video chat now. Skype itself may not make $8.5 billion but the products receiving skype integration easily do and skype is a great feature for all those products which will help keep them competitive. Outlook plus skype would be a killer combination.
Obviously... "Please note that there are no official prices announced for Xbox One products. The price stated above is a placeholder. With our Pre-order Price Guarantee, you can order now and if the Amazon.co.uk price decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lowest price"
It's one of those videos where it sounds like a really cool idea then you watch it and it's like what did I expect? Parcel goes to depot. Parcel is sorted. Parcel is delivered.
We already have glasses and hearing aides that don't make you look like a complete dork.
If you watch the video in the article you'll see that these devices are much more sophisticated than normal glasses and hearing aids.
The sight mask appears to allow you to see the trail of motion (allowing a football manager to see where his players have moved from) and the hearing mask allow you to focus on a specific sound (allow a child with ADHD to focus on useful sounds). Although these designs do look odd they are probably not the final designs and aren't supposed to worn all the time.
Should you not leave negative reviews on Amazon or Ebay?
Being able to tell the world about your experience with a company, is a good form of consumer protection, as it gives the company a good reason to make sure a customer leaves satisfied. If she'd positive tweet, this company may have received extra business so it can work both ways. The real lesson here is for British politicians and courts to tidy up our messy libel system (assuming she is telling the truth) so companies using these tactics are out of pocket so they think twice about filing these kind of law suits.
China most defiantly has the resources, it just needs to put them in good use, instead of trying to block freedom of speech. Start putting pressure on ISPs that allow their networks to be abused. The spam might move between countries, but I assume the spammers themselves must be located somewhere.
Follow the money trail and start closing bank accounts.
I think this could easily become a huge issue. We are lucky that most phishing emails are of a very low standard and it's easy to spot the fakes.
I'm guessing that these developing countries don't take cyber crime to seriously at the moment, perhaps instead of governments pushing SOPA and and ACTA they could come up with agreements which will encourage BRIC nations to start cracking down on spammers before the problem gets out of hand.
I started using ad blocker when ads became very annoying, distracting and in some cases NSFW. I've found that good sites now that have ads relevant to what they show and have begun to turn ad blocker off for those sites. I still have no script turned on which usually stops the ads from moving etc.
I think Destructoid should inform users of the problem. Ask to be white listed by users or offer an add free subscription version of the site.
The only reason I started using Ad-Block was because I was sick of pop up ads whilst watching videos, especially ones which do not apply to my country. I've actually started white listing sites with reasonable adverts now as I realise how much I value certain sites, and the adverts can be quite relevant.
There was an unofficial iplayer app for android which did not require flash, unfortunately it got banned. From what I heard flash is used because of DRM.
Javascript links in quite nicely and it runs in browser so no IDE needed. I know Internet Explorer and Chrome have a debugger built in so you should be able to get something together pretty quick.
Only one school in my area out of six taught A-level computing (not ICT) I think only about 10 of us actually completed the A2. Unless there is a massive increase in demand for the subject, 100 teachers could cover a big area.
Why does the summary call out Wikipedia and BBC both of which have websites that are optimised for mobile devices?

Didn't mean to Mod you down, the points drop down is seems to be completely broken in Chrome. Hopefully me commenting will reset the points.

If you get VAC banned you can still play on non VAC servers.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft used to insert adverts into the footer of hotmail emails.

Why, and let this company screw her over?

Judging by the buttons 1,2,3,4 I'd say this is a generic pc gamepad not a playstation controller.

That price probably includes our 20% sales tax (VAT) making it £208 or $334.

Dropping iGoogle support is probably one of their worst decisions ever why else would I even make google my home page?
It probably doesn't directly make them money but if that's their reason for dropping it I might have to abandon gMail before that gets killed off.
