  1. Revenue neutral answer on UK Music Industry Stomps on Imported CD Seller · · Score: 1

I am unfamiliar with this service but if their shipping cost 2 pounds or more why not just make up the difference by reducing it by those 2 pounds

  2. Re:I know your wrong on Solar Powered Jacket Charges Your Gadgets · · Score: 3, Informative

I came across some cells from the late 70's and they still produce electricity. Compare that with the production cost of a rechargeable battery or an alkaline and I am sure you will see that over the lifetime of the solar cell (which has yet to be determined) they end up costing next to nothing in comparison.

This is old news lithium-ion batteries require special chargers and cannot be charged at a high rate. You also cannot discharge them quickly. the first people to attempt to use them in electric rc airplanes found this out.

  9. Are we doing china's goverment a favour on The Measured Effectiveness of Blocking Asian Spam · · Score: 1

For the most part the only trouble we have with other countrys are non democracy's. Those countrys depend on conflict to maintain order. We in the land of the Free (or do I mean fee) are not saints but the goverment is finally starting to make progress of a sort toward reducing some spam/Scams. Spam is not going anywhere the same rights that give us a right to grip about it gives them the right to do it. But by blocking off countrys like china we only serve to keep the population totaly isolated. You can communicate ideals and concepts such as feedom (Yes definatly the land of the fee) with out talking about politics.

You always have to walk(crawl) before you run. Any new tech is going to start large and cumbersome. Remember 8" floppys, dumb terminals and 300 baud bell modems. They were considerd a leap foward over punch cards, printouts and teletypes. This is only the first real step in the road to make the blind see. People always take a refined product for granted forgetting that the process that gave them that cheap video card with 80 frames per second started with a large complicated extremely costly(for the time) machine. Every componant of any electronic device today had a large bulky prototype. The fact they have achieved a measure of succes is a true modern miracle. The leasons leared from these first steps will probably be taken for granted in 10 years considering 10 years ago in 1992 my computer was a 386sx 16mhz with 4 meg of ram and 40 meg harddrive with ega graphics.

  12. Re:We laugh so we don't cry. on Scott Kurtz Blasts Comic Strips on Tech Support · · Score: 1

Most Humor comes from exaggeration. The only sad thing about the strips on Userfriendly is that I have personally had to deal with some of the same clueless users that are described on his strips. The real humor I get from them is that I'm not alone. Iliad doesn't even have to exaggerate the premise behind them in order for them to be funny. The main problem with computer users these days is that they don't want to learn anything. They want you to tell them how to fix it without learning anything in the process.
